Whether it\u2019s a getting a 99 from an ice cream van after school or enjoying an artisanal scoop of gelato on a European summer holiday, ice cream = good times, a little luxury that\u2019s light on the wallet (the current cost of a Mr Whippy is a topic of debate for another day).<\/p>\n<p>Even if we don\u2019t always have the weather for it, we\u2019ve long been able to get good ice cream in London, from classic vanillas and chocolates to wildly unusual flavours, like Chin Chin\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DGQ1xQgoH1u\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">glazed potato peel soft serve<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/anya-hindmarch-ice-cream-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anya Hindmarch\u2019s<\/a> tubs of Twiglets, Bisto Gravy and Garnier\u2019s Pickled Onion ice cream. <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/this-dessert-biz-is-making-sure-everyone-gets-a-happy-ending\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Happy Endings<\/a> has been indulging our sweet tooth with epic ice cream sandwiches and swirls of <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/the-best-soft-serve-ice-cream-in-london\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">soft serve<\/a> appear on a host of London menus each summer. You can even pair ice cream with glou-glou wines at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DFS8mLJommF\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Dreamery<\/a> in De Beauvoir.<\/p>\n<p>But recently there\u2019s been a new wave of indie and small batch ice cream makers shaking up the scene, with cool aesthetics, unusual flavours and hot <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/map\/pop-ups\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pop-ups<\/a>. Their ice cream is churned gelato-style but is made from creamy oat milk, meaning its actually <a href=\"https:\/\/londontheinside.com\/map\/vegan-food\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plant-based<\/a>. That means you can get both classic flavours, your chocolates, your pistachios, your rum raisins, and more unusual scoops, including mushroom brown butter, plum rice pudding and black sesame soy. Prefer your ice cream in weird and wacky flavours? Big Kid is the one for you. There Tomas Rizzo is making ice cream with ethically sourced ingredients and Argentine passion. Obvs there\u2019s dulce de leche on the menu but don\u2019t sleep on the banana split, pistachio and gianduja flavours. With Charms, he\u2019s creating flavours inspired by his travels, such as milk tea with cinnamon crunch, corn &amp; blackberry ripple, and honey baklava.
