{"id":365474,"date":"2025-08-22T20:11:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T20:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/365474\/"},"modified":"2025-08-22T20:11:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T20:11:09","slug":"notts-tv-to-stop-broadcasting-at-the-end-of-next-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/365474\/","title":{"rendered":"Notts TV to stop broadcasting at the end of next week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The planned closure has been brought forward from November following the departures of several key staff members to pursue new opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Notts TV launched across Nottinghamshire on Freeview on May 27 2014, serving as an independent broadcaster on Freeview\/BT channel 7.<\/p>\n<p>The channel, owned by Nottingham Trent University (NTU), has built a strong reputation for impartial journalism, innovative training for NTU and Confetti students, and championing Notts through local news, culture, and community storytelling.<\/p>\n<p>NTU first announced in February it would not be not be seeking to renew the licence from broadcast regulator Ofcom to run Notts TV after November 2025, when the current licence expires.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Sarah Speight, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Nottingham Trent University, said: \u201cWhile our intention had been to continue the partnership until the end of the licence period in November, it is entirely understandable that colleagues are moving on to new opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith student placements now successfully concluded and the BBC-funded Local Democracy Reporting Service transferred we believe this is the appropriate moment to bring the channel\u2019s operations to a close.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful for everything the team has accomplished over the past eleven years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chris\u00a0Breese, Notts TV Channel Manager, said: \u201cWe\u2019re proud of the eleven years of hard work and innovation the channel has brought to local tv and online publishing \u2013 achieving lasting impact with our creativity, industry training and independent journalism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHundreds of successful careers in journalism, radio, TV and film were started by the opportunities the channel offered, and thousands of Nottinghamshire stories and people were given a platform through our programming and online publishing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Viewers can continue to enjoy Notts TV on Freeview\/BT 7 and Virgin 159 until midnight on Friday 29 August, with a special schedule celebrating the channel\u2019s most popular programmes and memorable Nottinghamshire moments since its launch in May 2014.<\/p>\n<p>A final edition of live news and chat show Notts Today will air at 5.30pm on August 29, reflecting on more than a decade of local stories and achievements.<\/p>\n<p>Notts TV\u2019s website and social media channels will also no longer be active after 29 August, however an archive of the channel\u2019s programming will remain available in the on-demand section of the channel website, and on its YouTube channel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The planned closure has been brought forward from November following the departures of several key staff members to&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":365475,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3937],"tags":[77,382,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-365474","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-tv","8":"tag-entertainment","9":"tag-tv","10":"tag-uk","11":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/115074242086547273","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/365474","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=365474"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/365474\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/365475"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=365474"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=365474"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=365474"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
