A \u2018drunk\u2019 British woman has been arrested in Germany<\/a> after a violent outburst onboard a flight to Cyprus.<\/p>\n Holidaymakers were en route from Manchester<\/a> Airport to Larnaca, Cyprus<\/a>, on Thursday night when the unruly passenger, 41, began attacking other fliers and crew members.<\/p>\n The plane landed early in Cologne, where police arrested the woman, who is due to be deported.<\/p>\n German police said the British tourist was \u2018heavily intoxicated\u2019.<\/p>\n She launched a tirade of punches, kicks, insults, and threats at fellow passengers and cabin crew.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tSign up for all of the latest stories\t\t\t<\/p>\n Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/a><\/strong> newsletter or get Breaking News<\/a> <\/strong>alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n \t\t Her \u2018violent behaviour\u2019 forced the plane to land early at at Cologne Bonn Airport at 7.20pm local time (6.20pm in the UK), where the jet was met by police.<\/p>\n \u2018In consultation with Cologne police, she was taken to the station for further processing and placed in police custody to sober up,\u2019 spokesperson Mathias K\u00e4mpfer said.<\/p>\n The holidaymaker was denied entry into the country and placed in custody.<\/p>\n She will be deported back to the UK \u2018immediately\u2019, German police said.<\/p>\n The original plane then suffered technical issues and could not take off.<\/p>\n So passengers were left to wait in a transit area before a replacement plane could fly them to Cyprus later in the evening.<\/p>\n German Police issued a statement about the dangers of drunk flying alongside news of the incident.<\/p>\n \t\t They said: \u2018Even small amounts [of alcohol consumption] can have a significantly stronger effect than on the ground due to the unique stresses of flying\u2014such as lower air pressure and altered oxygen concentrations.<\/p>\n \u2018Aggressive behavior not only endangers other passengers but can also severely impair the safety of a flight.
