UK Athletics have announced the U20, Classic Up-and-Down, and Uphill Mountain athletes who will complete the Great Britain and Northern Ireland squad for the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships<\/strong> in Spain in September.<\/p>\n

We are delighted no fewer than nine Scottish athletes have been named among the 22-strong team.<\/p>\n

And they are joined by two more Scotland-based athletes in a superb representation for the discipline in Scotland and our endurance calendar.<\/p>\n

The announcement completes the team selections, following previous teams for the Long Trail and Short Trail events (see links at foot of this article).<\/p>\n

In total, 38 athletes will represent GB and NI at the third combined Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Canfranc.<\/p>\n

The hills of Keswick saw athletes battle it out at the British trials, with the first two athletes to cross the line securing their spot in the team as per the selection policy.<\/p>\n

Jacob Adkin<\/strong> crossed the finish line first in the Uphill race, where the course was over 6.4km with 905m of ascent, on Friday in a time of 37:44.<\/p>\n

Scout Adkin<\/strong>, who is currently leading the 2025 WMRA World Cup standings, will double up in the women\u2019s Uphill and Classic Up-and-Down events, despite suffering a fall in the trials at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Kirsty Dickson<\/strong> claimed the win in the Uphill trial with a time of 45:49, securing her spot in the GB and NI team.<\/p>\n

In the Junior Up-and-Down races at the trials, it was a triumphant Scottish double with Thomas Hilton <\/strong>and Isla Paterson<\/strong> taking the victories.<\/p>\n

Isla will be joined in the U20 team by Hania Czebreszuk <\/strong>of Aberdeen AAC and Edinburgh AC\u2019s Jessica Taylor. <\/strong>Thomas will be joined by Rowan Taylor<\/strong> of Lasswade AC.<\/p>\n
