A man has been charged with murder after a man died following a reported stabbing in West Belfast<\/a><\/p>\n A murder investigation was launched on Friday following the death of a man reported to have been stabbed in the Mulberry Park area<\/a> of Dunmurry on August 21.<\/p>\n Officers received a report at around 8.15pm on Thursday that a man aged in his 30s had been stabbed in the Mulberry Park area.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Police investigating connection between flat fire, glider attack and man’s murder in West Belfast<\/a>READ MORE: Dunmurry stabbing victim named locally as Shane Lowry<\/a><\/p>\n PSNI attended, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, where the man was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n He has been named locally as Shane Tony Lowry, described in a family notice as a “beloved son” who will be “sadly missed by all his family and friends”.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team, investigating the murder of a man in his 30s in the Mulberry Park area of Dunmurry on Thursday 21st August, have charged a man to court. “The man, aged 32, has been charged with murder and possession of a blade or point and is expected to appear before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 23rd August. “As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.”<\/p>\n The death of Mr Lowry has shocked and saddened the community<\/a> with local residents saying their sympathies lay with his greiving family.<\/p>\n West Belfast<\/a> Sinn Fein<\/a> MLA Danny Baker said: \u201cThis is absolutely tragic, and I want to extend my thoughts and condolences to the deceased man\u2019s family and friends.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is a great deal of shock and sadness in our community this morning at this news.<\/p>\n \u201cThe PSNI<\/a> has confirmed that a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
