A fire has began during a protest in Glasgow City Centre <\/a>which prompted an emergency response.<\/p>\n

Images from the scene this evening showed the blaze burning against the kerb at the junction of Gordon Street and Mitchell Street.<\/a><\/p>\n

Police officers were seen standing guard as protestors were spotted carrying a banner while onlookers watched on from the pavements<\/a>.<\/p>\n

An eyewitness told Glasgow Live<\/a> that the fire was started during the protest this evening, with firefighters racing to the scene.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that firefighters attended a fire at the junction<\/a> of Mitchell Street and Gordon Street this evening.<\/p>\n

The fire was in the open<\/a> and was extinguished by firefighters.<\/p>\n

Police Scotland have been approached for comment<\/a>.<\/p>\n
