{"id":366064,"date":"2025-08-23T01:32:20","date_gmt":"2025-08-23T01:32:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/366064\/"},"modified":"2025-08-23T01:32:20","modified_gmt":"2025-08-23T01:32:20","slug":"ricky-jones-cleared-of-encouraging-violence-at-hoe-street-protest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/366064\/","title":{"rendered":"Ricky Jones cleared of encouraging violence at Hoe Street protest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Ricky Jones, 58, was found not guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court of encouraging violent disorder.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In a viral video, Jones, wearing a black polo top, was seen addressing supporters in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, on August 7 last year, labelling far-right demonstrators as &#8220;disgusting Nazi fascists&#8221; and saying:\u00a0&#8220;We need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The rally was in response to a planned far-right march outside Waltham Forest Immigration Bureau.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Jones, a full-time official for the Transport Salaried Staffs\u2019 Association union, was arrested on August 8 last year.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He was suspended by Labour the day after the incident, with a party investigation still understood to be ongoing.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Prosecutor Ben Holt described Jones&#8217;s speech to the court as &#8220;inflammatory, rabble-rousing language&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  During the trial, Jones clarified that his comments referred to those allegedly placing National Front stickers with concealed razor blades on trains, not the far-right protesters present at the rally.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He expressed his disdain for political violence, asserting he believed in peaceful protest.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Jurors deliberated for just more than half-an-hour to acquit Jones, who\u00a0has been a borough councillor in Dartford, Kent, since 2019.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He declined to comment on the verdict.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ricky Jones, 58, was found not guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court of encouraging violent disorder.
