Gini Wijnaldum<\/a> has responded to a social media post attempting to pull him into the Alexander Isak saga by using his comments about leaving Newcastle<\/a> almost 10 years ago.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Isak\u2019s desire to leave Newcastle<\/a> continues to dominate column inches leading into the transfer deadline on September 1 and ahead of Liverpool\u2019s visit on Monday.<\/p>\n

The Swede released a statement<\/a> earlier this week stating promises had been broken and trust lost, meaning \u201cthe relationship can\u2019t continue.\u201d <\/p>\n

His actions in attempting to force a move has, understandably, angered Newcastle<\/a> supporters, and Wijnaldum\u2019s move to Liverpool has since been used to serve a purpose to online accounts.<\/p>\n

ESPN UK, among others, have dusted off Wijnaldum\u2019s explanation of his transfer to Anfield in 2016, when he said: \u201cWhen the previous season ended, I said that I wouldn\u2019t force a move. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Liverpool came in for me, I made up my mind that I wanted to come here, but I wasn\u2019t going to force it because I appreciated what Newcastle<\/a> and their fans did for me.\u201d <\/p>\n

It has been sought to be used as the shining example of how to handle the desire to leave the club, but Wijnaldum himself wants to be kept out of the Isak discourse.<\/p>\n

Writing in response to ESPN UK\u2019s Instagram post, the former Liverpool midfielder penned: \u201cThis is something I said almost 10 years ago before my move to Liverpool. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhy post it like it\u2019s my opinion about Isak\u2019s decision? This is something between Isak and Newcastle<\/a>\/Liverpool please keep me out of it. Thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

At the time of Wijnladum\u2019s move to Liverpool, Newcastle<\/a> had just been relegated and thus, he did not need to force a transfer like Isak sees himself needing to do.<\/p>\n

There will be few who encourage players to behave like Isak when they want a move, but the 25-year-old\u2019s statement explained \u201cwhy change is in the best interest of everyone, not just myself.\u201d<\/p>\n
