Prince Philip didn\u2019t mince his words on his grandson\u2019s big day.<\/p>\n
Grant Harrold, King Charles\u2019s former butler, claimed that the Duke of Edinburgh didn\u2019t hold back after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said \u201cI do\u201d in 2018. In his upcoming memoir, \u201cThe Royal Butler,\u201d<\/a> the etiquette expert claimed he overheard \u201ca few choice words\u201d from Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s husband.<\/p>\n \u201cOnce all the formalities were over, we watched as the happy couple, and then the other members of the royal family, filed out of the chapel,\u201d Harrold wrote, according to an excerpt published by The Telegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n PRINCE HARRY, MEGHAN MARKLE\u2019S ROYAL EXIT CAUSED \u2018UNFORGIVABLE\u2019 PAIN IN QUEEN ELIZABETH\u2019S FINAL YEARS: EXPERT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWhen Prince Philip came out, he turned to the Queen and said, \u2018Thank f\u2014 that\u2019s over.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Archewell, which handles the offices for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, told Fox News Digital they had no comment.<\/p>\n Meghan, an American actress who starred in \u201cSuits,\u201d<\/a> married the British prince in a ceremony that was held at St George\u2019s Chapel. Both the queen, who died in 2022, and Philip, who passed away in 2021, were in attendance.<\/p>\n Several royal experts told Fox News Digital they weren\u2019t surprised by the alleged remarks made by Philip.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was 96 years old at their wedding,\u201d said British royals expert Hilary Fordwich<\/a>. \u201cHe had just recovered from surgery, so he was likely in pain and tired. He didn\u2019t have enough tact left in his tank.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t a personal swipe at the Sussexes,\u201d Chard added.<\/p>\n Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner said he was all too familiar with Philip\u2019s blistering words<\/a> and no-nonsense approach to life.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are many expletives that could describe Philip, who was known for his outspoken views on anyone who would care to listen,\u201d said Turner. \u201cI used to be a royal photographer. She affectionately referred to him as her rock in public.<\/p>\n The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as senior royals in 2020, citing the unbearable intrusions of the British press and a lack of support from the palace. They moved to California that year. The couple went on to air their grievances in interviews, documentaries, as well as Harry\u2019s 2023 memoir \u201cSpare.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n In sit-downs leading up to the book\u2019s publication, Harry accused members of the royal family of getting \u201cinto bed with the devil\u201d to gain favorable tabloid coverage. He singled out Queen Camilla\u2019s efforts to rehabilitate her image after her longtime affair with his father, the king<\/a>. In the book, Harry also claimed that he and his brother begged their father not to marry Camilla.<\/p>\n Harrold admitted to The Telegraph that he was surprised by Harry\u2019s words.<\/p>\n \u201c[The family]\u2026 got on so well,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cAnd that\u2019s why I don\u2019t understand what Harry\u2019s said, I really don\u2019t understand. Because I saw them.
