At least 12 people are dead after a railway bridge that was under construction in China collapsed.<\/p>\n

Four others are missing, according to state media.<\/p>\n

Sixteen workers were on the bridge in Qinghai province when a steel cable snapped during a “tensioning operation” at roughly 3am on Friday, according to the Xinhua News Agency.<\/p>\n

The bridge was being built on the Qinghai section of the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway.<\/p>\n

Aerial photos show a large section missing from the bridge’s curved aquamarine arch, while a bent portion of the bridge deck, which usually sits around 55m above the surface of the Yellow River, hangs downward.<\/p>\n
