The Mandalorian star Katee Sackhoff has explained how playing Bo-Katan Kryze led her to lose her confidence.<\/p>\n

The Battlestar Galactica actor first played the character in voice form in 2012 with the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, and later in live-action.<\/p>\n

Speaking to her Battlestar co-star Tahmoh Penikett, she explained that she experienced such a crisis after filming for the third season<\/a>, which wrapped up in 2022, and didn’t book any live-action roles for a few years afterwards.<\/p>\n

In the last few years, she started her podcast The Sackhoff Show<\/a>, which is where she made her confession.<\/p>\n

“I lost all of my confidence after Mandalorian,” she said, “all of it.”<\/p>\n

She explained that she tries to feel “grounded” and “two steps removed from myself” when playing a role, but stated: “Bo-Katan is nowhere near who I am as a human being. Her life, what she wants \u2014 I didn’t understand her… I never identified with her. I didn’t know how to find her.<\/p>\n

“My style of acting has always just been, ‘Your first instinct is the right instinct. Do that. Play the reality of the situation.’ And I’ve never really played a character.”<\/p>\n

“It broke me. It just broke me,” she continued. “I started doubting everything about myself. I’m not a strong auditioner on tape, and I was having to put myself on tape. I wasn’t booking anything. And for three years, I basically didn’t work, and it just destroyed my confidence.”<\/p>\n

Sackhoff turned things around after getting a new agent that helped her find her confidence again, and has since landed roles in Law & Order and Carrie.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, The Mandalorian is continuing with<\/a> The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, although Sackhoff hasn’t been confirmed for it at the current time.<\/p>\n

The Mandalorian <\/strong>seasons 1-3 are streaming on <\/strong>Disney+<\/strong><\/a>, with <\/strong>The Mandalorian & Grogu<\/strong> movie due to be released in 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n
