When it comes to something tried and tested, chances are that a Wetherspoons<\/a> will tick a certain quota for most people.<\/p>\n It\u2019s cheap enough, it\u2019s got a reliable menu, there\u2019s often a lively atmosphere, and there\u2019s usually one around every corner you pass.<\/p>\n But just how many of us actually stop to take in our surroundings before heading straight to the bar to order that meal and a drink special from our favourite local pub<\/a>?<\/p>\n Earlier this week, the best rated carpets in each of the Greater Manchester Wetherspoons were revealed<\/a> and it found that The Harbord Harbord in Middleton<\/a> was the best – based on Instagram likes.<\/p>\n Stay connected with our City Life newsletter here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Originally built as a clothes store in the 1920s, the two-storey pub<\/a> had garnered over a hundred likes for its uniquely wavy carpet design. Others faring well included The Regal Moon in Rochdale<\/a>, the Mardi Gras pub at the Trafford<\/a> Centre, and The Ash Tree in Ashton-under-Lyne.<\/p>\n And, in fact, it turns out there\u2019s actually a bit of method behind the reason for each pub\u2019s choice of carpet. Wetherspoons’ head of property development Jon Randall has previously said the chain ‘places particular emphasis on the design’ of its pubs – with its carpets often reflecting a venue\u2019s past history or local roots.<\/p>\n Adding to the thought-process, a Wetherspoons spokesperson told the M.E.N this week: “When founder and chairman Tim Martin created Wetherspoon in 1979, he wanted every pub to have its own atmosphere, including local art, photographs and an original, bespoke carpet.\u201d<\/p>\n But, do you know your Sedge Lynn carpet from the one shown off at Moon Under Water? Well, of course, there is only one real way to find out – and that\u2019s by testing you on this exact subject.<\/p>\n We\u2019ve put together a list which will test you on the very same carpets on display at some of the popular Greater Manchester pubs operated by Wetherspoons.
