Birmingham City Council tenants are being alerted to a special offer which can cut their rent bills.<\/p>\n

The Housing Perks app offers shopping discounts for tenants at retailers such as Sainsbury’s<\/a>, Asda<\/a>, Morrisons<\/a>, and Argos, helping them to save money on everyday essentials.<\/p>\n

But crucially, a new feature of the app allows tenants to put money saved towards paying their rent.<\/p>\n

It could make a big different to low-income families battling with the cost of living crisis.<\/p>\n

The city council says around 6,000 residents have downloaded the app, collectively saving around \u00a322,000.<\/p>\n

Housing boss Councillor Nicky Brennan said: “We are committed to doing all we can to support our tenants through the ongoing cost of living crisis, and I am pleased to add the Housing Perks app to our other cost of living support.<\/p>\n

“Budgeting and managing household bills can be challenging, so we are giving tenants the option to pay any savings made through the Housing Perks app directly to their rent account.<\/p>\n
