A huge blaze<\/a> has broke out at a Scots recycling centre.<\/p>\n

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service<\/a> (SFRS) were alerted to the blaze involving a large quantity of rubbish and some machinery at Lochhead Landfill Site in Dunfermline at around 1:38pm this afternoon, Sunday, August 24.<\/p>\n

Four fire appliances<\/a> raced to the area and 20 firefighters are currently working to extinguish the fire.<\/p>\n

The SFRS have asked people to avoid the area as far as possible and urge locals keep windows and doors closed.<\/p>\n

Images show plums of black smoke billowing<\/a> overhead, spreading into nearby housing schemes in the city.<\/p>\n

Footage from the scene shows the flames<\/a> coming from the fire within the premises.<\/p>\n

Locals have reported seeing cops at the entrace of the recycling centre<\/a>, blocking entry.<\/p>\n

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “We are currently in attendance at Lochhead Landfill Site in Dunfermline after being alerted to the incident at 1:38pm.<\/p>\n

“We have four appliances at the scene and 20 firefighters who are working to bring the blaze under control.”<\/p>\n

They continued: “Firefighters are working to extinguish a fire involving a large quantity of rubbish and some machinery.<\/p>\n

“Please avoid the area as far as possible and, if you live locally, keep windows and doors closed.”<\/p>\n

Police Scotland has been approached for comment.<\/p>\n
