Hamzah Sheeraz<\/a> has difficulty describing what he considers embarrassing behavior by Edgar Berlanga<\/a> since knocking him out last month.
Sheeraz hoped the brash Berlanga would\u2019ve handled his loss respectfully, rather than accusing the British super middleweight of loading his gloves before their fight July 12 in New York. England\u2019s Sheeraz (22-0-1, 18 KOs) dropped Berlanga (23-2, 18 KOs) twice in the fourth round and knocked him out early in the fifth<\/a> of their \u201cRing III\u201d main event at Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Brooklyn\u2019s Berlanga berated Sheeraz, 26, throughout the promotion of their 12-round, 168-pound bout. Sheeraz still would\u2019ve given his rival credit <\/a>had Berlanga exhibited class following his devastating defeat.\u201cIf he took his loss like a man and said, \u2018Hamzah was the better man, respect to him, good luck in the future,\u2019 he would\u2019ve gained fans,” Sheeraz told The Ring<\/a>. “Because he did all that [expletive]-talking, he sold the fight. Well done to him, he sold the fight. He made the fight bigger for myself and he made the knockout more sweet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Berlanga, 28, baffled Sheeraz by posting his unremarkable highlights from their fight through his Instagram account a couple weeks ago. Sheeraz was blunt when asked to explain what could\u2019ve possessed Berlanga to accentuate what he did well before hurting him badly during the fourth round.<\/p>\n

\u201cSmoking too much weed,\u201d Sheeraz said. \u201cThat\u2019s the only logical answer here. But I don\u2019t know. I\u2019ll be honest with you, it\u2019s sad to see.”<\/p>\n

Sheeraz\u2019s impressive victory over Berlanga in his debut at the super middleweight limit earned him the No. 6 spot in The Ring\u2019s most recent 168-pound top 10<\/a>. Berlanga, who entered their bout ranked No. 9, dropped out following his second loss in his last three fights.<\/p>\n

Berlanga\u2019s only previous loss had been a 12-round, unanimous decision to undisputed super middleweight champ Canelo Alvarez 11 months ago in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n
