Hong Kong\u2019s alleged transshipment of Western-sanctioned dual-use goods for Russia\u2019s war effort in Ukraine remains a \u201cmajor concern\u201d for the European Union, the bloc\u2019s top envoy in the city has said.<\/p>\n
At an event on Friday to mark Ukraine\u2019s Independence Day, Harvey Rouse, the head of the EU office in Hong Kong, said he had continued to raise the issue with city authorities and hoped there could be \u201cprogress together\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt remains a major concern that Russia keeps receiving dual-use goods for its war machine,\u201d Rouse said, referring to products such as materials, technology or equipment that can be used for both civilian and military purposes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is something we will keep raising here with the Hong Kong authorities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rouse later said: \u201cIt\u2019s a very important issue \u2026 we hope that we can make progress together [with Hong Kong authorities].\u201d<\/p>\n
