Lily Collins’ <\/a>father-in-law, Malcolm McDowell,<\/a> shared his true feelings for her popular Netflix<\/a> series, Emily In Paris. Launching on the streaming service in 2020, the hit comedy-drama follows a fashionista in her late 20s, Emily Cooper (played by Lily Collins), who moves from Chicago to Paris when she lands a job at a respected French marketing firm.<\/a><\/p>\n While adjusting to the many challenges of her new European surroundings, she quickly makes new friends and finds herself wrapped up in complicated romantic entanglements. The show has been a massive hit with fans but received a lot of criticism over the years for its unrealistic portrayals of the country and its people.<\/p>\n Adding to the criticism, A Clockwork Orange actor Malcolm McDowell admitted he never watched Lily’s series and said the plot doesn’t draw him in.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Emily in Paris assistant director, 47, dies after collapsing while filming Netflix hit<\/a>READ MORE: Netflix announces Emily in Paris season 5 release date in first look at new location<\/a> “To be honest with you, it’s not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that,” he said to People<\/a>. “But I’m the biggest fan of my daughter-in-law. I think she’s absolutely one of the great actresses.”<\/p>\n Malcom’s son is Charlie McDowell, who married Lily in 2021. While Malcolm doesn’t watch the show, he said he’s proud of the daughter of Phil Collins.<\/p>\n “She has such a beautiful quality. As far as I’m concerned, when she’s on the screen, there’s nobody else on it, because she’s not only a good actress, but she has a beautiful quality. I suppose, it’s a sort of charisma,” he added.<\/p>\n Season four saw Emily moving away from the French capital for the first time, finding her feet in Rome.
