{"id":370919,"date":"2025-08-24T23:34:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-24T23:34:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/370919\/"},"modified":"2025-08-24T23:34:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T23:34:11","slug":"phil-parkinson-impressed-with-one-wrexham-summer-signing-after-magnificent-display-v-sheffield-wednesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/370919\/","title":{"rendered":"Phil Parkinson impressed with one Wrexham summer signing after &#8216;magnificent&#8217; display v Sheffield Wednesday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Wrexham threw away a 2-0 lead to only muster a 2-2 draw against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrexhaminsider.com\/tag\/phil-parkinson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Phil Parkinson<\/a> is no fool; the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrexhaminsider.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wrexham<\/a> boss absolutely knew that the Championship would be a major step up in quality.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrexhaminsider.com\/transfer-news\/wrexhams-confirmed-transfers-in-2025-summer-window-incomings-outgoings-and-latest-rumours\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wrexham have now made 10 signings<\/a> to cope with that increase in quality, but the results haven\u2019t come through just yet.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday saw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrexhaminsider.com\/match\/wrexham-player-ratings-vs-sheffield-wednesday-kieffer-moore-stuns-but-theres-a-5-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wrexham draw 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>, despite taking a 2-0 lead into the half-time break.<\/p>\n<p>Wrexham ran out of steam in the second half and saw goals from Barry Bannan and Bailey Cadamarteri salvage a point for Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Parkinson\u2019s day could have been completely ruined late on, but Danny Ward produced a crucial save to deny Charlie McNeill in stoppage time.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2231653365-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Kieffer Moore of Wrexham celebrates scoring.\" class=\"wp-image-45982\" \/>Photo by Jess Hornby\/Getty Images<strong>Phil Parkinson praises Wrexham\u2019s Kieffer Moore<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wrexham\u2019s 2-0 lead was established by two fine finishes from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrexhaminsider.com\/tag\/kieffer-moore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kieffer Moore<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Welshman showed his predatory instincts inside the box to put Wrexham 1-0 up, before emergency Wednesday signing Ethan Horvath handed him a second.<\/p>\n<p>That should have been enough for Wrexham to kick on and see out the victory, but it wasn\u2019t to be for the Red Dragons.<\/p>\n<p>Parkinson has still paid tribute to Moore, though, highlighting the striker\u2019s \u2018magnificent\u2019 performance in the Wrexham attack.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrexhaminsider.com\/transfer-news\/phil-parkinson-delighted-as-kieffer-moore-shares-first-words-after-completing-wrexham-transfer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wrexham snapped up Moore from Sheffield United<\/a> over the summer, bringing the giant forward to the ST\u014dK Cae Ras as Parkinson\u2019s new target man.<\/p>\n<p>Moore was outstanding against Southampton on the opening day of the season and battled through the pain barrier to play against West Bromwich Albion last week.<\/p>\n<p>Now off the mark with two goals against Wednesday, Moore has earned praise from Parkinson on Wrexham\u2019s official YouTube channel.<\/p>\n<p>Parkinson suggested that Moore has been \u2018great\u2019 for Wrexham so far, and his first 45 minutes against Wednesday were as good as you can see from a Championship forward.<\/p>\n<p>Parkinson added that Moore suffered a twisted ankle, which impacted his second-half display on Saturday, but he has done enough to impress the Wrexham boss.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s been great so far, hasn\u2019t he?\u201d said Parkinson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAgainst Southampton, he was unplayable, and then today, he was magnificent. In the first half, he could have scored more and had some good moments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe twisted his ankle, at half time he was struggling a little bit. With hindsight, should we have brought him off? He wanted to stay on.
