\n MCR Pathways is looking to recruit mentors to match with pupils at Biggar High School ahead of the new term.\n<\/p>\n
\n The programme\u00a0supports a variety of learners\u00a0including those with care experience, young carers or anyone going through bereavement.\n<\/p>\n
\n READ MORE: Peebles High School\u2019s Victorian-era science block set for demolition<\/a>\n<\/p>\n \n Caroline Barret, a current MCR Pathways mentor, said: \u201cI\u2019ve learned so much through the young people, it\u2019s making me a much better, kinder person.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cI think many young people don\u2019t often realise the potential they have and mentoring is about making an investment, letting them find their potential, which is truly limitless.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n Volunteers don\u2019t need any prior experience in the role, but the charity is looking for people who are empathetic, kind, open minded, friendly, approachable, committed and reliable.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n \n READ MORE: Hundreds take part in Borders triathlon events over action-packed weekend<\/a>\n<\/p>\n \n Mentoring roles will involve only one hour per week during the school term and\u00a0training will be provided.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n \n MCR Pathways has\u00a0found that the programme has had a positive impact on attainment, achievement, confidence and building trust.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n \n The charity has\u00a0been working in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council since 2019 and the programme has recently expanded and launched in Biggar.\n<\/p>\n
