Igniting a huge public outcry, a petition was signed by hundreds of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/news\/wales-news\/biggest-petition-welsh-history-20mph-29039286\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">thousands of people calling for the ruling be overturned.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A year later, in September, 2024, the Government announced that Welsh councils could opt to revert some roads back to 30mph if they followed a certain criteria. Consultations began across Wales with local authorities consulting residents about which roads they believed should be considered for alteration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">This process is still ongoing in many areas, while in others the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/news\/wales-news\/roads-changing-back-20mph-welsh-32111246\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">decision has been finalised.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Some local authorities are not restoring any of their 20mph roads, meanwhile others are changed theirs this month. The council expect this to be completed by the end of this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Cardiff<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/cardiff\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Cardiff<\/a> there are four roads that have been confirmed to revert back to 30mph<strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\"\/><\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Newport Road: All of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/newport\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"NewportLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Newport<\/a> Road except for a section which runs outside St Illtyd&#8217;s Catholic <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/wales-schools\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"SchoolLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">School<\/a>. The road has four lanes for the majority and a bus corridor between Cardiff and Newport, allowing it to revert to 30mph.<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Western Avenue:<strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\"> <\/strong>A section of Western Avenue west of the Taff River Bridge up to the junction with Cardiff and Llandaff Road. The council decided there are enough pedestrian crossings and significant separation between carriageways and footways to allow a return to 30mph.<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Ocean Way:<strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\"> <\/strong>From Beignon Close to Rover Way. As the area is mainly non-residential and carries a lot of traffic to the Link Road the speed limit will change.<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Hadfield Road:<strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\"> <\/strong>The section between the junction with Leckwith Road and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/penarth\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"PenarthLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Penarth<\/a> Road. The road will change as it is also <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/news\/wales-news\/wide-road-no-one-lives-29102856\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">mainly industrial<\/a> and feeds onto both Leckwith and Penarth Road, both of which have 30mph limits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Carmarthenshire<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">These A and B Class roads have been proposed to return to 30mph, subject to consultation and the Traffic Regulation Order process:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">A484 Cwmdwyfran (in full)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">A484 Pentre-Morgan (in full)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">A484 Pentrecagal (in full)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B4297 Heol Y Bwlch, Bynea (in part &#8211; for a length of 600m from its junction with Yspitty Road to its junction with Y Gerddi)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B4333 Hermon (in part \u2013 on southern approach to the village only)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B4312 Llangain (in part \u2013 on both approaches to the village)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B4312 Moument Hill, Carmarthen (in full)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B4308 Carmarthen Road, Kidwelly (in part \u2013 on the southern approach to the town for a distance of approximately 246m)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B4556 New Link Road, Penygroes (in full)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B4306 Heol Y Parc, Hendy (in part &#8211; from Llannon direction up to its junction with Clos Glyn Dwr)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B4337 Llanybydder (in part) &#8211; for a distance of 150m on the eastern approach into Llanybydder from Ty Mawr<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Ceredigion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">There will be no proposed changes to any existing speed limits.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Conwy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A list of priority roads have been confirmed for assessment by <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/conwy\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Conwy<\/a> council but a final decision has yet to be made on the following roads.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">B5115:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B5115 from Brompton Avenue, Bae Colwyn (Colwyn Bay) through Llandudno Road, Bae Penrhyn (Penrhyn Bay)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B5115 Colwyn Road, Llandudno to Conway Road, Llanrhos<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Bryn Lupus Road, Llanrhos<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Rhos Promenade and Marine Drive, Llandrillo-yn-Rhos (Rhos on Sea)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Glan y Mor Road, Bae Penrhyn (Penrhyn Bay)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">B5106:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B5106 from Gyffin through Tal y Bont<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B5106 Dolgarrog to Trefriw<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A547:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">A547 Llanddulas Road, Abergele<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">A547 Abergele Road, from Wynnstay Road to the 40mph east of Highlands Road, Hen Golwyn (Old Colwyn)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">A547 Conwy bridge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A548: Foryd Road and Towyn Road, Tywyn (Towyn) and Bae Cinmel (Kinmel Bay)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">B5383: Rotary Way, Hen Golwyn (Old Colwyn)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">St Asaph Avenue, Bae Cinmel (Kinmel Bay)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">B5113: Kings Drive to Llanrwst Road, Bryn y Maen<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">B5279 Tyn y Groes Road<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Meirion Drive, Conwy<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">B4406 Penmachno to A5<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Conway Old Road to Bwlch Sychnant (Sychnant Pass)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Maesdu Avenue, Deganwy<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Denbighshire<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The council has <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/news\/wales-news\/north-wales-council-praised-getting-31871880\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">no plans to increase the speed limit<\/a> on any of its 20mph roads.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Flintshire<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">These are roads are set to return to 30mph in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/flintshire\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Flintshire<\/a> this month.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">A548 Mostyn Road\/Bagillt Road, Greenfield &#8211; This proposal also includes a small section of the B5121 Greenfield Road, Greenfield<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">A5026 Lloc:<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">A5119 King Street, Mold: This proposal also includes a small section of A5119, Mold (To Sychdyn)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Raikes Lane, Mold:<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">A5119 Aber Road Flint This proposal also includes Parc Aber Park Industrial Estate, Flint and Unnamed Roads in Parc Aber Park Industrial Estate<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B5444 Wrexham Road, Mold: Maes Gwern, Mold: This proposal includes Maes Gwern, Mold, Ffordd Nercwys, Mold and Mold Business Park<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">B5125 Hawarden to Broughton<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Gwynedd<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In June Cyngor <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/gwynedd\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Gwynedd<\/a> confirmed that the A499 at Llanbedrog and the A496 at Bontddu are currently part of a 28 day pre-consultation stage in the review process subject to securing support from public consultations.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Merthyr Tydfil<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The council received comments on 20 roads, however a review concluded that four roads will be reverted back to 30mph.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Swansea Road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Aberdare Road in Georgetown<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Cyfarthfa Road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Cardiff Road in Quakers Yard, Treharris<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Monmouthshire<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/monmouthshire\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Monmouthshire<\/a> Council decided it is not reverting any roads from the current 20mph speed limit.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Neath Port Talbot Council<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The council has said it is reviewing 93 comments about streets or roads following a consultation after the revised <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/welsh-government\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Welsh Government<\/a> guidance.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Newport<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In March this year Newport Council stated it wanted to change the speed limit for the following 16 streets in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/newport\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Newport<\/a>.
