Ruben Amorim has stressed that new Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko “needs time”.<\/p>\n
United paid just under \u00a374million to sign Sesko and the 22-year-old has started both of their Premier League<\/a> matches against Arsenal and Fulham on the bench.<\/p>\n Sesko only played 45 minutes in pre-season for RB Leipzig before he joined United just over two weeks ago and Amorim has opted for a strikerless side amid United’s efforts to sell Rasmus Hojlund.<\/p>\n Slovenia international Sesko came on 13 minutes earlier at Craven Cottage, with the game goalless, than he did on his debut a week earlier.<\/p>\n “I think he needs time,” Amorim said of Sesko. “It\u2019s not easy. Sometimes you are on the bench and go to the game and the game is really fast, he\u2019s understanding that the game is even faster than the Bundesliga.<\/p>\n “But he is fighting, he had some good connections with teammates, I felt that when he was on the pitch we were not in our best moment and that can change the way you see a player.<\/p>\n “So I\u2019m really happy because he\u2019s putting in all the effort, we just need to be in a better moment sometimes to help him to show the talent he has.”<\/p>\n United have won only seven of Amorim’s 29 games in charge in the Premier League after Fulham came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage on Sunday.<\/p>\n Burnley visit Old Trafford next Saturday but United commence their domestic cup programme with a League Cup second round tie at Grimsby Town on Wednesday.<\/p>\n Wholesale changes are probable against the League Two team three days before United host newly-promoted Burnley, who beat Sunderland on Saturday.<\/p>\n “I think when we scored the goal we forget about maintaining the way we should play,” Amorim added on the Fulham draw. “We were just thinking about maintaining the result. We want to win so bad we forget about maintaining possession, push the opponent, we just gave a little bit of the game to Fulham.<\/p>\n “We start really well, until the goal I think we were a good team, we can do better. After the goal, I think we were just thinking about maintaining the advantage.
