Alexander Isak\u2019s absence from the Newcastle United squad against Liverpool on Monday night will not stop much of the attention around the game focusing on him.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Isak is trying to leave Newcastle Unite<\/a>d amid interest from Liverpool, who could well return with a fresh bid for his services after Monday night\u2019s game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Liverpool saw their opening bid for Isak<\/a> rejected and haven\u2019t returned since, although the situation may change after Monday\u2019s game is complete.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Still, Isak is looking increasingly likely to stay at Newcastle<\/a>. The club are said to have been annoyed by his public statement on Tuesday, and then confirmed they do not expect to see him sold when responding with a statement of their own.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, with the transfer window open, anything can happen. With that in mind, it\u2019s worth looking at what a senior Liverpool writer has been saying.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to Ian Doyle in the Liverpool Echo<\/a>, there have been \u201csigns\u201d that Newcastle<\/a> are relenting in their stance that Isak<\/a> is not for sale.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He suggests that Isak\u2019s move to Anfield will happen \u201csooner rather than later\u201d and that a \u00a3130million deal might be enough to seal it. <\/p>\n

Doyle also suggests that there\u2019s a \u201cnagging suspicion\u201d that Liverpool are focused on signing the Sweden star and are not prepared to look at any other alternatives in the transfer market. <\/p>\n

Liverpool\u2019s stance on Alexander Isak is revealing <\/p>\n

Isak is \u201calmost certain\u201d to stay at Newcastle this summer<\/a>, according to The Daily Mail\u2019s Craig Hope.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Indeed, it does feel incredibly unlikely that the club will sanction his exit. Eddie Howe has confirmed Newcastle won\u2019t sell Isak without signing a replacement<\/a>, and that has proven an arduous task on Tyneside all summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, the fact that Liverpool do not appear to be looking at any other alternatives does point to a certain degree of confidence in the Isak deal. <\/p>\n
