Nearly 75% of organizations are using two or more alternative cloud providers, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hostingadvice.com\/studies\/73-of-it-leaders-leverage-two-more-alt-cloud-providers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HostingAdvice.com survey<\/a> of 500 IT leaders from May 2025. These alternative clouds refer to cloud providers outside the major hyperscalers, like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud, or IBM Cloud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re able to get enterprise-grade hosting from alternative cloud providers,\u201d says Joe Warnimont, senior analyst at <a href=\"http:\/\/hostingadvice.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HostingAdvice.com<\/a>. While hyperscalers still dominate in market share, alternative clouds are closing the functionality gap while delivering high availability and lower pricing.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond cost, these newer cloud providers emphasize niche strengths. For example, Warnimont points to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vultr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vultr<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/article\/964305\/what-is-edge-computing-and-how-it-s-changing-the-network.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">edge computing<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalocean.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DigitalOcean<\/a> for application development. Other examples of alternative clouds include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linode.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Akamai Cloud<\/a> (formerly Linode), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudflare.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cloudflare<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cloudjiffy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CloudJiffy<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coreweave.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CoreWeave<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/fly.io\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fly.io<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ionos.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IONOS<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lambda.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lambda<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netexplorer.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NetExplorer<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/us.ovhcloud.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OVHcloud<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paperspace.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paperspace<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/railway.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Railway<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/render.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Render<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scaleway.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scaleway<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/wasabi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wasabi<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Alternative clouds are having a moment.
