It always feels like bank holidays can be a bit of a washout, but this August bank holiday has well and truly bucked that trend.<\/p>\n

Today Greater Manchester is basking in glorious sunshine<\/a> with temperatures creeping close to 30C – not a bad way to round off the bank holiday weekend.<\/p>\n

You might be making the most of the weather with a family trip to the seaside<\/a> or with a barbecue with friends. But if you\u2019re stuck for something to do and want to enjoy the sunshine then we\u2019ve got you covered.<\/p>\n

South Manchester is packed full of parks, gardens and riverside walks which are all lovely when the sun\u2019s out. Yet there\u2019s one place in particular which never disappoints.<\/p>\n

Fletcher Moss Botanical Gardens and Park in Didsbury<\/a> is a gorgeous spot to spend time outside. Located at the southern end of Didsbury village and tucked beside the River Mersey, it\u2019s a place you could spend hours exploring.<\/p>\n

Many will be familiar with the botanical gardens which feature a rockery, pond, tiny waterfalls and an array of plants and trees.<\/p>\n

Outside of the botanical gardens are open fields, a rose garden, grassy areas and a walking route which takes you through the woods, eventually leading to the River Mersey.<\/p>\n

This area in particular takes you across boardwalks over pockets of marshland, along tree-covered trails and past small ponds.<\/p>\n

You can round off your walk with a visit to The Alpine Tea Room at the entrance to Fletcher Moss Park, which is open from 8am to 4pm.<\/p>\n

It serves up light meals, ice cream, soft drinks and even cocktails, with lots of outdoor seating available.<\/p>\n

Or for those seeking a pub garden, head to nearby Ye Olde Cock Inn and The Didsbury on Stenner Lane.<\/p>\n
