In the summer of 2024, prosecutors say, he approached Chinese government officials multiple times and offered to hand over classified information about U.S. military operations.<\/p>\n<p>German authorities first detained the suspect in November 2024 at Frankfurt airport, following an arrest warrant issued by the German Federal Court of Justice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His arrest drew international headlines at the time, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiegel.de\/panorama\/justiz\/spionage-fuer-china-bka-nimmt-ex-mitarbeiter-des-us-militaers-fest-a-60db7081-72dd-4f4f-8e9e-977938a1b86a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">German media reporting<\/a> that he had sought to sell secrets from inside U.S. military installations on German soil.
