{"id":372284,"date":"2025-08-25T12:20:17","date_gmt":"2025-08-25T12:20:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/372284\/"},"modified":"2025-08-25T12:20:17","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T12:20:17","slug":"allica-backing-scotlands-stone-skimming-world-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/372284\/","title":{"rendered":"Allica backing Scotland\u2019s stone skimming world championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Conrad_Ford_2025.jpg\" alt=\"Allica backing Scotland's stone skimming world championships\" class=\"w-100\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Fintech challenger bank Allica has renewed its sponsorship of the World Stone Skimming Championships on Easdale Island in the Inner Hebrides.<\/p>\n<p>The annual event, dating back to 1983, attracts hundreds of competitors and visitors every year, including Olympic athletes, celebrity entrants, and stone-skimming diehards from around the world.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s 400 entries sold out in a record three minutes.<\/p>\n<p>                                    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishfinancialnews.com\/advert-click\/64edf26d58d3c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-advert=\"64edf26d58d3c\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1756124413_79_ScottishNews.com MPU 5.2 (SFN).png\" class=\"advert\" data-advert=\"64edf26d58d3c\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>                                    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishfinancialnews.com\/advert-click\/6525c17164ca1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-advert=\"6525c17164ca1\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/MPU_01.gif\" class=\"advert\" data-advert=\"6525c17164ca1\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Allica\u2019s sponsorship forms part of the London-based bank\u2019s ongoing \u2018Here is Where the Heart Is\u2019 campaign, which sees the bank support several unique local events across the UK \u2013 including the World Pooh Sticks Championships in Oxfordshire, the Town Crier Championships in Worcestershire, the Peashoot Championships in Cambridgeshire and the Conker Championships in Northamptonshire.<\/p>\n<p>Conrad Ford, chief strategy officer at Allica Bank, said: \u201cEvents like the World Stone Skimming Championships are exactly the kind of things that make our communities unique in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve often been run for decades by volunteers with the support of local community groups and businesses, and are a highlight of the local calendar. It\u2019s important they get the support they need to last for many more decades to come.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt might seem unusual for a bank to sponsor these kinds of events, but it\u2019s these local connections and stories that we know are important to our customers, who themselves are critical parts of their communities. That\u2019s why you\u2019ll see Allica turning up where others won\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Allica is a challenger business bank built especially to serve established SMEs with five to 250 employees.<\/p>\n<p>Its latest annual report reveals it has already lent over \u00a33 billion to established businesses and has recently seen rapid growth of its business current account, designed especially to make banking more rewarding and powerful for business owners.<\/p>\n<p>Kyle Mathews, an organiser of the World Stone Skimming Championships, said: \u201cWe\u2019re incredibly grateful to Allica for supporting us again this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Stone Skimming Championships is entirely volunteer run and self-funded, so it\u2019s crucial that we get this kind of investment to keep going.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe championships are something the Easedale community is really proud of, and it brings a lot of people to the island, driving welcome trade to our businesses.
