Leicester City manager Marti Cifuentes decided not to risk Stephy Mavididi against Charlton Athletic to give him the best chance of playing Birmingham City<\/a> on Friday night.<\/p>\n Promotion favourites Leicester and Blues will do battle in a blockbuster Championship clash at the King Power Stadium this weekend.<\/p>\n Both teams have won two of their opening three fixtures but Blues sit a point above the Foxes in the standings due to their unbeaten start.<\/p>\n Leicester won the Championship title two seasons ago and are expected to be in the thick of the promotion shake-up once again and Mavididi will be a key player for them.<\/p>\n The 27-year-old winger provided 18 goal contributions and earned a spot on the Championship Team of the Year for 2023\/24 and three of his goals came against Blues.<\/p>\n Mavididi bagged a brace in a 3-2 win for Leicester at St Andrew\u2019s<\/a> during Wayne Rooney\u2019s troubled tenure as Blues boss before netting a late winner for the Foxes in the return fixture.<\/p>\n He courted controversy by celebrating one of his goals at St Andrew\u2019s by climbing over the advertising boards to taunt Blues fans.<\/p>\n It looks as though Blues will come up against Mavididi again on Friday with Cifuentes making the pointed decision not to risk him in their 1-0 win at Charlton on Saturday.<\/p>\n \u201cStephy felt a small muscular feeling during the week and we were hoping he could make it,\u201d Cifuentes told LeicestershireLive.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cBut at this stage of the season, especially with one game left before the international break, we thought it was very important that he\u2019s ready for the Birmingham<\/a> game and hopefully that will be the case.\u201d<\/p>\n Are you backing Blues to get a result against Leicester?
