Northern Ireland defender Trai Hume says Sunderland must learn from their disappointing loss to fellow Premier League new boys Burnley.<\/p>\n

The Black Cats went down 2-0 at Turf Moor in a game that saw Hume\u2019s teammate for club and country, Dan Ballard, carried off.<\/p>\n

Sunderland assistant manager Luciano Vulcano told the press on Monday that the club are still awaiting more information on the defender\u2019s injury.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cDan is having a scan today so we will hopefully have more information soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like Hume, Ballard has been named by Michael O\u2019Neill in the squad for next month\u2019s World Cup qualifiers against Luxembourg and Germany.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on Sunderland\u2019s defeat at Turf Moor, Hume said: \u201cWe were right in the match for large periods,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut at this level, you\u2019ve got to take your chances when they come. Burnley did that today and it made the difference. It\u2019s something we need to learn from.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fans were unbelievable again today,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven at the end, when it wasn\u2019t going our way, they were still there supporting us. That means so much to the lads, and we know how important they\u2019re going to be across the season. We\u2019ll give everything to make sure we bounce back.”<\/p>\n

The Black Cats face Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis week is about analysing where we could have done things differently,\u201d Hume said. \u201cBut we can\u2019t dwell on it too long. We\u2019ve got Huddersfield in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night and then Brentford at home in the league on Saturday.
