Harry Potter<\/a>‘s pal Ron Weasley and his rag tag family were seen filming for the first time as production for the new TV series took over\u00a0London King’s Cross Station on Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The role originally played in the movies by Rupert Grint<\/a>, will now be portrayed by 11-year-old Alastair Stout who cut a quirky figure in his costume on set.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As well as being joined by his onscreen siblings Fred and George (Tristan and Gabriel Harland) and Ginny (Gracie Cochrane) for the scenes, Rivals star Katherine Parkinson, 47, who replaces Dame Julie Waters as family matriarch Molly, was also seen for the first time in character.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Alistair wore a plaid over shirt which was teamed with corduroy bell bottoms along with a thick duffel coat and school bag for scenes which will see the young wizards enter the magical\u00a0Platform 9 and 3\/4 to travel to Hogwarts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With the series, which is more faithful to the novel, set in 1992 Katherine was also dressed for the time period in suede jacket with shoulder pads and long skirt.<\/p>\n

Accessorising with retro gold earrings, she could be seen shouting at her unruly children in the scenes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Ginny was dressed in orange dungarees and a colourful crochet cardigan along with clashing yellow socks and red sandals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Following her casting, actress Katherine said she didn’t add her name to the list of those who have denounced author JK Rowling’s views about trans people<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rowling, 59, has faced intense criticism from LGBTQ<\/a>+ activists and several stars of the Harry Potter films, including Daniel Radcliffe<\/a> and Emma Watson<\/a>, after publicly expressing concerns about gender ideology<\/a>\u00a0and single-sex spaces. With her comments branded transphobic by some campaigners.<\/p>\n

Katherine told Radio Times:<\/a> ‘I don\u2019t want to add to that debate at all, I\u2019m just delighted to be joining the magical world of Harry Potter,’.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month the highly anticipated show shared a first look at all the Weasley siblings with a fun selfie of the actors.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

It came after the three lead child stars were finally announced after months of speculation – with Dominic playing protagonist Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermoine Granger and Alastair as Ron Weasley<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The young trio were selected from more than 30,000 actors who auditioned in a casting call last year, before Ron’s siblings Fred, George, Percy (Ruari Spooner) and Ginny were announced.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile\u00a0actor Nick Frost, who portrays Hagrid, towered over lead star Dominic McLaughlin as filming for the TV series took over London and brought traffic to a standstill earlier this month<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nick and Dominic were pictured walking down Borough High Street near London Bridge.<\/p>\n

Their costumes both match their characters’ descriptions in the movies and books.<\/p>\n

Taking on Daniel Radcliffe’s role of Harry, Scottish actor Dominic, 11, looked serious as he looked into the distance while rocking a blue, green and yellow rain jacket.<\/p>\n

He completed the look with some wide-leg jeans, a rucksack and Harry’s iconic glasses.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead legend Nick, 53, donned long curly hair and a matching beard.<\/p>\n

The actor looked warm in a khaki jacket, black trousers and brown boots.<\/p>\n

In one snap of the pair together, some may notice that Nick – who is 5ft 7 inches, towers over Dominic – and if you look closely, he has a mask on his face which has two black dots above his mouth.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While it’s initially unclear in the photos as to where Harry and Hagrid are going, given the location, it looks like the duo are likely on their way to Diagon Alley.<\/p>\n

After the photos emerged, fans have taken to Reddit to share their thoughts.<\/p>\n

They said: ‘The OUTFIT is just so spot on, the too big jeans, baggy shirt, the dirty coat that I swear half the boys at my school had and probably came from C&A. The attention to detail is just so good’,<\/p>\n

‘IKR. they also roughed-up Hagrid. unlike the first official photo where his beard looks like a perfectly conditioned and curled hair’.<\/p>\n
