Arne Slot’s side enjoyed a 4-2 win over the Cherries, with Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah<\/a> scoring in the final minutes to snatch three points. Meanwhile, Newcastle United were held to a goalless draw by Aston Villa<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With Alexander Isak essentially on strike, Anthony Gordon led the frontline for Eddie Howe’s side<\/a>. The reigning champions may fancy their chances this evening, but the Magpies will be determined to show their wantaway striker what he’s missing out on.<\/p>\n

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports<\/a> bundle for the 2025\/26 season, saving members \u00a3192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.<\/p>\n

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.<\/p>\n

What time does<\/strong><\/p>\n

Newcastle United versus Liverpool will kick off at 8pm at St. James’ Park on Monday, August 25. Assuming there are no extended breaks in play or stoppages, the final whistle will likely blow at around 9:50pm.<\/p>\n

Who will officiate<\/strong><\/p>\n

Simon Hooper will referee Liverpool’s clash against Newcastle on Monday night, and he’ll be joined by his assistants Adrian Holmes and Simon Long. Tony Harrington has been named as the fourth official; meanwhile, John Brooks is the Video Assistant Referee with Steven Meredith acting as his assistant.<\/p>\n

Newcastle versus Liverpool will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League for viewers in the United Kingdom, with television coverage starting at 6:30pm.<\/p>\n

Liverpool’s clash against Newcastle will be available to stream in the United Kingdom on Now TV<\/a> via all compatible TV, mobile, tablet, computer, console and streaming devices, while Sky subscribers can tune into via Sky Go.<\/p>\n

Last weekend, Jeremie Frimpong suffered a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s clash against Bournemouth. The 24-year-old defender, whom the Reds signed from Bayer Leverkusen for \u00a329.5m earlier this summer, was forced to come off after an hour.<\/p>\n

Joe Gomez enjoyed an 18-minute cameo off the bench against the Cherries, marking his return from the sidelines. That said, the 28-year-old defender remains a doubt, with question marks over his fitness.<\/p>\n

Conor Bradley also remains a doubt, having missed the Community Shield and the opening match of the Premier League campaign. Ryan Gravenberch returns from suspension.<\/p>\n

Newcastle could only be without two players on Monday night. Alexander Isak is essentially on strike and Joe Willock has only recently returned to training at Darsley Park, but Jacob Ramsey, whom the Magpies signed from Aston Villa for \u00a340m last week, is available.<\/p>\n

What has Slot said?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Slot said: “It’s mainly difficult [facing them] because of the players they have there, not only because of the fans. The atmosphere is great, like it is at Anfield, so we are used to a certain environment, but St James’ Park, if I remember, last season, when it was an evening game, the atmosphere was amazing.<\/p>\n

“But why is the atmosphere amazing? Because the players can perform. The main thing we have to be ready for is their midfield, their last line, their front three.<\/p>\n

“I assume Isak is not playing from what I read in the media but they still have Anthony Gordon as a nine, Anthony Elanga as a right-winger and Harvey Barnes from the left, and that is without Jacob Murphy playing.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Howe said: “The first home game is always going to be electric. I love experiencing those nights with the energy that the crowd bring us and I have no doubt that this will be a really passionate display from the home support.”<\/p>\n
