“Just unbelievable,” Morgan told the website of the USGA, the governing body that runs the game in America and which organises the Senior Women’s Open.<\/p>\n

“I said to my caddie Beth, ‘I’m not looking at the scoreboard until I need to’.<\/p>\n

“I was debating my shot into 18, and I said, ‘Beth, what’s the score?’ <\/p>\n

“She said, ‘You have a six-shot lead,’ so I said, ‘OK, we’re going for it’.<\/p>\n

“I just stayed really calm all day, holed some really good putts, and can’t quite believe it, to be honest.”<\/p>\n

Morgan claimed one victory on the Ladies European Tour – the 2018 Hero Women’s Indian Open.<\/a><\/p>\n

She began the final day at San Diego Country club in a three-way tie for the lead and produced five birdies, two bogeys and several key par-saving putts for a closing 70.<\/p>\n

The victory qualifies Morgan – who twice represented Great Britain & Ireland in the Curtis Cup match against the best amateurs from the US – for the 2026 US Women’s Open at Riviera Country Club.<\/p>\n

“I would not have dreamt this,” added Morgan who stopped playing on the LPGA tour in 2018.<\/p>\n

“Since I started playing on the sort of Senior Tour, I’ve had some decent success, but obviously nothing like this.
