Even if you\u2019ve never watched a pro tennis match, there\u2019s a good chance you\u2019ve seen one of Morgan Riddle’s<\/a> viral videos. The tennis WAG (she\u2019s the girlfriend of Taylor Fritz<\/a>, the world\u2019s number four men\u2019s player right now)\u2019s GRWM content has helped make #tenniscore a thing and introduced the sport to millions of women who wouldn\u2019t have had access to\u2014or, quite frankly, any interest in\u2014otherwise. Ahead of the US Open, Cosmo caught up with Morgan to chat about all things tennis and beauty, from how she got into vlogging at Grand Slams to the sunscreen<\/a> and setting spray she always wears to courtside matches and everything she\u2019s bringing in her bag to the Open this week. <\/p>\n

I want to start with how you got here. I know you were doing real estate, then you met your boyfriend Taylor Fritz, and now you\u2019re creating content at Grand Slams. Talk to me about that journey.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s been an interesting path for sure. I went to Wagner College on Staten Island. I tried a bunch of different things in college. I had, like, eight internships in pretty much any field that you could imagine, including real estate. But once I graduated, I worked in nonprofits that were very heavy into influencer marketing. So for a long time, I worked on the other side of marketing and social media. Then I met Taylor on Raya. The same week that I resigned from my corporate job, I posted a GRWM for one of his tennis matches on TikTok. The video went viral overnight, and then I just kept on making them.<\/p>\n

Before you met Taylor, did you know anything about tennis?<\/strong><\/p>\n

No. I grew up in Minnesota. We don\u2019t have enough warm weather throughout the year for people to really be consistent tennis players. So ice hockey was the sport my family did. And I was never athletic\u2014as a teen, I did musical theater and debate. Tennis was a very new world for me, but now I would consider myself an expert. I really love and appreciate the sport. <\/p>\n

I\u2019ve seen people in your social media comments say that you\u2019ve gotten them into tennis. Was that ever the intent?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was never my intent for my content to be like a gateway drug to the sport. It was just fun for me. Taylor and I started dating during COVID, so the only time I was not in loungewear or sweats was when I was going to his matches. I really wanted to capitalize on that opportunity and use it as a fun time to dress up and share it with everyone. Within the first six months, I was like, Oh, this is actually getting people genuinely interested in the sport. It\u2019s been a very nice surprise. <\/p>\n

How do you feel about being called a \u201ctennis Barbie\u201d or \u201cWAG\u201d? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always embraced the acronym WAG, even though I know it has negative connotations. And I know I\u2019ll be referred to as a tennis Barbie, so I\u2019ve worked to try to change the associations behind it and even play off of the discrimination around it. Last year at Wimbledon, one of my match outfits was this pink Alessandra Rich outfit that was inspired by the 1960s retro Barbie. So I\u2019ll just kind of like cheekily play with it and embrace it in the best way that I can.<\/p>\n

Out of all the tennis tournaments you\u2019ve been to, which one was the chicest?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wimbledon. Every aspect and tiny detail\u2014from the architecture to the florals to the way that they serve the food and drinks\u2014is just so incredible and chic. Even the way that people dress for it. It\u2019s all super chic.<\/p>\n

And what\u2019s the most fun tournament?<\/strong><\/p>\n

They\u2019re all so different, but the US Open is really fun for me. Most of my friends from college still live in the city, so it\u2019s fun to have honey deuces with my friends and watch the matches. I also really love the Australian Open. I think the Australian Open and the US Open can feel like a darty with lots of tennis courts. <\/p>\n

For someone who\u2019s never been to the US Open, how would you describe the experience? What are people wearing?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s really busy, and it\u2019s usually really hot. But it\u2019s such a great experience, whether you\u2019re a big tennis fan or not. The style has evolved a ton over the years. When I first started going to the US Open, everyone was in sportswear. But now you\u2019ll go and see people in everything from sporty chic preppy tennis outfits to incredible dresses with heels. <\/p>\n

You mentioned it usually being really hot at the US Open. When you\u2019re watching during the day, how do you stop your makeup from melting off your face by the end of a four-hour match? <\/strong><\/p>\n

One Size setting spray.<\/a> It\u2019s a good one. <\/p>\n

What beauty stuff do you bring in your bag to watch a match?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I always have some sort of lip gloss. I like the Summer Fridays<\/a> one. I\u2019m wearing the darker pink one right now with a lip stain from Wonderskin<\/a>. I have to stay away from nude lips because they wash me out, but I love a pinky red color. I also always have a spray sunscreen that I can use over my makeup if I need to reapply SPF. I like sunscreen from Australian brands\u2014they\u2019re really good if you\u2019re going to be in direct sun. The brand Ultra Violette<\/a> has one that\u2019s sort of like a setting spray and gives you a really nice glow. Naked Sundays has one that I like too.<\/p>\n

I saw in one of your videos that you called yourself a complete freak about sunscreen. What\u2019s your favorite SPF right now?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I really like the Belif Aqua bomb stick. It\u2019s from Korean-based sunscreen brand and a super hydrating SPF 50. A lot of face sunscreens only have SPF 30, but when I\u2019m sitting in the sun at a match for five hours, that just doesn\u2019t cut it for me. I also like the Summer Fridays one because it sits really well under makeup. <\/p>\n

Are you a full foundation or skin tint kind of person? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m a regular foundation person. I use either the Dior Backstage Face and Body foundation or Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk<\/a>. I rotate between those two pretty much nonstop and don\u2019t really venture much outside of that. There\u2019s one skin tint I like, but I usually have a hard time with the texture. I feel like they\u2019re too sheer.

If you only get your hair or makeup professionally done before a big event, what would it be?<\/strong> <\/p>\n

I\u2019d rather do my own makeup and get my hair done. I can really only do my hair with my Dyson Airwrap<\/a>. I\u2019m actually so attached to it. We travel so much, so I have a U.S. Air Wrap, a European Air Wrap, and an Australian Air app. I can\u2019t do my hair any other way.<\/p>\n

Since you\u2019re always staying in hotels or Airbnbs, do you have any tips for getting ready in a space that\u2019s not your own? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve experienced this, but bathroom lighting in hotels is detrimental. So when I travel, I always bring a little mirror that lights up so I don\u2019t have to rely on horrible hotel lighting. I can always walk into a hotel bathroom and be like, yep, a man designed this space. A woman would never.<\/p>\n

When you\u2019re traveling is all your beauty stuff coming with you, or do you bring a smaller edit?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oh it\u2019s not edited at all. I bring everything. I check two 70-pound suitcases everywhere I go. There have been too many instances where I get to a place for a week and need one specific thing that I left at home.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the most expensive beauty product you own?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Probably my red light mask. I use the Dr. Dennis Gross one. It\u2019s not too bright, so I can easily wear it and still do emails and stuff on my phone.<\/p>\n

Your skin is always so glowy. How much time do you dedicate to skincare?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My nighttime routine is, like, a solid 15 minutes. I have to put a lot of effort into it because I\u2019m very acne-prone, and with all of the travel, like airplanes and different climates, my skin can get really disrupted. A lot of the things I do are to make sure that I avoid breakouts and dryness.<\/p>\n

Is there a specific product that has really helped with your acne?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Honestly, the number one product that has helped my acne is the PanOxyl wash<\/a>. I think it\u2019s like $10 from Target. If I don\u2019t use that for a couple of days, my acne goes insane. It has 10 percent benzoyl peroxide, which can be really harsh for some people\u2019s skin, but it\u2019s the only thing that keeps my acne at bay. I also really like my Tatcha moisturizer; it\u2019s gentle enough that it doesn\u2019t negatively affect my skin. And then for all of my active serums, I use SkinCeuticals. I\u2019m currently using their vitamin C<\/a>, PTIOX, and B5 serums.<\/p>\n

What about facials and cosmetic treatments, like Botox and filler? Are they a part of your skincare routine too?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I get Botox<\/a> in my forehead. I\u2019ve been doing it since I was 20. I used to have really, really deep lines in my forehead. It was my biggest insecurity. So I started getting Botox in college, and I still do every four or five months. I\u2019ve gotten lip filler once a couple of years ago, and it just hasn\u2019t really gone away, so I haven\u2019t done that again. I don\u2019t get facials very often. If I am doing any sort of skin treatment, it\u2019s going to be microneedling with PRP. So now I go in and get my blood drawn, and then they put my plasma on my face and microneedle it in. That has made such a difference for my skin texture and pores.<\/p>\n
