Traffic Scotland has warned anyone planning to travel to Edinburgh Airport <\/a>this week that they may face serious delays due to two music events taking place at a nearby venue. The Royal Highland Centre is hosting Edinburgh Summer Sessions this year, where US pop star Chappell Roan is playing two sell-out concerts on Tuesday (August 26) and Wednesday (August 27).<\/p>\n With 60,000 people attending each gig, it’s safe to say that traffic will be heavier than usual, particularly due to the venue’s close proximity to the airport.<\/a> Traffic Scotland are urging holidaymakers to plan ahead and keep up-to-date with travel news this week.<\/p>\n The travel authority warned on X, formerly Twitter<\/a>: “Catching a flight from @EDI_Airport on Tues 26th\/Wed 27th August? Expect increased traffic on the #M8 #A8 #M9 & local routes near Ingliston due to an event at @HighlandCentre. #PlanAhead, arrive early, and check travel times.”<\/p>\n Ahead of the Summer Sessions, Traffic Scotland said on its website: “This August, Chappell Roan will be headlining two dates at the Summer Sessions Festival on Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th at the Royal Highland Centre. The gates open at 4pm both dates.<\/p>\n “We expect traffic to be heavier than normal over the Queensferry Crossing, on the M90, A8, M8 and A720. Surrounding local routes may also be impacted with extra traffic.”<\/p>\n Content cannot be displayed without consent<\/p>\n The singer is to take the Scottish stage <\/a>after performing at Reading Festival down south last weekend.<\/p>\n Chappell Roan shot to stardom with her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which she released in September 2023.<\/p>\n Her song Pink Pony Club <\/a>reached number one in the UK back in March, following her live performance of the hit single at the Grammys.<\/p>\n Thousands of fans will be making their way to Ingliston for the concerts this week, with Little Mix’s JADE <\/a>as Chappell’s support act.<\/p>\n But those jetting away abroad rather than attending the concert should be wary of transport delays on the road out to Ingliston.<\/p>\n Airport buses and trams <\/a>are also guaranteed to be busy on Tuesday and Wednesday, as many fans will be taking public transport out towards the Royal Highland Centre from the city centre.<\/p>\n Holidaymakers should also be aware that the rules for taking liquids through Edinburgh Airport security have recently changed.<\/a><\/p>\n Passengers are now permitted to take up to two litres of liquids, rather than the 100ml limit that has been in place since 2006.<\/p>\n The change comes after the installation of new scanning technology, and Edinburgh is the first airport in Scotland<\/a> to lift the restriction.<\/p>\n Holiday goers will now be able to carry two litres through security in their hand luggage.<\/p>\n There is also no longer any need to remove your liquids from your hand luggage or to store them in a separate clear plastic bag.<\/p>\n Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today.<\/p>\n You’ll receive daily updates on breaking news as well as the top headlines across Scotland.<\/p>\n No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the Daily Record team.<\/p>\n![\"Chappell](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/0_Chappell-Roan.jpg\")
