The stock\u2019s price dropped twice as much as BTC in the past few days.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Michael Saylor announced that Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) acquired an extra 3,081 <a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/bitcoin-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Bitcoin [BTC]<\/a> for about $357 million.<\/p>\n<p>The latest purchase increased the firm\u2019s holdings to 632,457 BTC, officially crossing the 3% of total BTC supply. Interestingly, in early August, Saylor <a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/strategy-owning-3-7-of-bitcoin-supply-is-not-too-much-michael-saylor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">suggested<\/a> the firm could go for 3-7% of BTC supply.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even more interesting? Most of the recent capital was raised from selling MSTR common stock.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Strategy\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.contentstack.io\/v3\/assets\/bltf8d808d9b8cebd37\/blta457fda90cf3345c\/68abb51b7119ea801fdaf56e\/form-8-k_08-25-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow external noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">filing<\/a> with the SEC, it sold 875,301 MSTR shares (worth $310 million) in the past seven days.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Michael-Saylor-BTC-supply-MSTR.jpg\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-521994\" class=\"size-full wp-image-521994\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"Michael Saylor\" width=\"885\" height=\"925\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Michael-Saylor-BTC-supply-MSTR.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-521994\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: SEC<\/p>\n<p><strong>MSTR dilution or \u2018strategic\u2019 buys<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The use of MSTR to buy BTC was noteworthy as it aligned with Saylor\u2019s new ATM (at-the-market) guidance.<\/p>\n<p> He recently <a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/saylors-mstr-u-turn-sparks-criticism-but-680-target-remains-untouched\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">instructed<\/a> the use of MSTR for new BTC bids even if the premium (mNAV) dropped below 2.5x, sparking criticism of stock dilution.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Still, some analysts viewed it as a strategic move to acquire more BTC via the MSTR stock sale.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In fact, renowned MSTR analyst Jeff Walton <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PunterJeff\/status\/1960081051692531803\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow external noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">said<\/a> that MSTR was ripe for S&amp;P 500 Index inclusion, citing its deep liquidity for being the \u201c14th largest publicly traded equity by volume.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201c$MSTR now ranked 106th largest US company by market cap ($97.6B). Day 39 in a row of qualifying for S&amp;P 500. 14th largest publicly traded equity by volume.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, it\u2019s unclear when the MSTR will be included in the index.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>BTC pullback hits MSTR harder<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, MSTR didn\u2019t handle the recent BTC pullback so well. <\/p>\n<p>The reason is \u2013 while BTC dropped above 10% from over $124K to $110K, MSTR dumped nearly twice as much (20%) from $457 to $325.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/MSTR_2025-08-26_09-52-15.png\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-521995\" class=\"size-full wp-image-521995\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"Michael Saylor\" width=\"1950\" height=\"1146\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/MSTR_2025-08-26_09-52-15.png\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-521995\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: MSTR vs BTC performance, TradingView\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, this wasn\u2019t surprising since MSTR has always offered about 2x volatility exposure to BTC due to the Strategy\u2019s massive holdings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But the stock was below the 200-day Simple Moving Average (SMA), a key level it has defended throughout 2025.
