{"id":374750,"date":"2025-08-26T11:01:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-26T11:01:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/374750\/"},"modified":"2025-08-26T11:01:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T11:01:12","slug":"number-of-hours-worked-by-gps-in-scotland-lower-than-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/374750\/","title":{"rendered":"Number of hours worked by GPs in Scotland lower than 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The GP workforce survey showed that there were were 3,591.5 WTE GPs in March 2025.<\/p>\n<p>11:48, 26 Aug 2025Updated 11:50, 26 Aug 2025<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/3_GettyImages-515829216.jpg\" alt=\"Speak to your GP if you are worried about heartburn\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>GP numbers are less than they were in 2019(Image: SolStock\/ Getty)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Scotland has less hours being worked by GPs than it did in 2019, new figures show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The GP workforce survey showed that there were were 3,591.5 whole time equivalent (WTE) GPs in March 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">This was lower than the 3,613 WTE GPs Scotland had in 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">But this year&#8217;s figure was up from 3,453.1 last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">One WTE GP is a doctor who works a full working week. People are ringing their surgeries hundreds of times to try and get an appointment. GPs tell me that they can rack up nearly 100 separate contacts with patients in a single day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Scottish Liberal Democrats would draw on the wider skills that exist in mental health, physiotherapy, pharmacy and more. By adding specialists to local teams we can lessen the load on GPs and get you fast access to the best care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Scottish Liberal Democrats also secured more money for GPs in this year&#8217;s budget.
