We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"sc-1uza6dc-1 huxBsk\">Your support makes all the difference.<\/strong>Read more<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/food-prices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Food prices<\/a> have risen at their fastest pace in 18 months, driven by surges in the cost of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/chocolate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chocolate<\/a>, butter, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/eggs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eggs<\/a>, according to the latest figures. <\/p>\n<p>The British Retail Consortium (BRC)-NIQ Shop Price Monitor reveals food inflation hit 4.2% this month, up from 4% in July, marking the highest level since February 2024. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/bosses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bosses<\/a> at the trade body warned the acceleration &#8220;adds pressure&#8221;
