The head of French aerospace giant Safran has ignited a political row after declaring the company will no longer invest in cities governed by environmentalist majorities.<\/p>\n
Remarks made last week by Safran CEO Olivier Andri\u00e8s have reignited the debate around France\u2019s push for “green reindustrialisation” \u2013 or sustainable development<\/a> \u2013 highlighting divisions over how to balance economic growth with environmental concerns.<\/p>\n Speaking before a parliamentary inquiry into barriers to reindustrialisation, Andri\u00e8s sharply criticised Green Party<\/a> members in Rennes for opposing a proposed foundry that would create some 500 jobs, accusing them of blocking progress based on ideology.<\/p>\n \u201cWe had a solid agreement with the Socialist mayor,\u201d Andri\u00e8s explained to the panel. \u201cThen the Greens started throwing tomatoes \u2013 literally and figuratively \u2013 saying it was scandalous.
