Fiona Phillips\u2019 husband has made a tragic deathbed confession about the former GMTV presenter as she battles early onset Alzheimer\u2019s<\/a>. ITV<\/a> star Fiona was first diagnosed with the devastating disease in 2022 aged just 61. Now 64, she is being cared for by her 66-year-old husband Martin Frizell, former executive on This Morning.<\/p>\n

In a BBC<\/a> appearance earlier this year, Martin told Newsnight\u2019s Victoria Derbyshire: \u201cI don\u2019t think Fiona\u2019s ever going to be able to taste a glass of wine again, walk on a beach properly again, go on holiday again, go to the theatre, go to the cinema, drive her car, cook a meal for her children. And my worry is, on her deathbed whenever that may come and hopefully a long time from now, will she even know who we are?<\/a> There\u2019s no remission for Alzheimer\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martin and Fiona have recently released the book Remember When<\/a>, charting the story of Fiona\u2019s health battle. In a recent Instagram<\/a> post, Martin made another devastating admission after the memoir reached the top spot on the Sunday Times Bestseller list.<\/p>\n

He wrote: \u201cI’m sitting under a pink awning hence the colour of the Sunday Times Bestsellers list – the chart everyone wants to be on. And for the fifth consecutive week, Fiona is on the bestsellers list (she made No1).<\/p>\n

“She wants to say a massive thank you to everyone who has shown interest in her story, it’s really lifted her mood.<\/p>\n

“Can I also thank the many folk who have been in touch with their own stories, suggestions of new treatments and memories of Fiona from her working days.<\/p>\n

“I attach my favourite picture of her from a TV location shoot and shows what a force of life and vitality she had.<\/p>\n
