Police have now launched an investigation<\/p>\n

Offensive graffiti was sprayed on a bridge over a major road into Liverpool. Merseyside Police said they were made aware of the sickening message, which contained a racial slur, this morning on Tuesday, August 26 on a bridge over Speke Boulevard, Knowsley<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The “hateful” graffiti has been sprayed at the side and under the bridge of the A561.<\/a> Police have confirmed an investigation has been launched to find out who was behind the graffiti.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the force said enquiries are in the process of being carried out and Knowsley Council<\/a> has been notified to attend and remove the graffiti. The local authority confirmed to the ECHO that officers are working to have it removed as soon as possible<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Neighbourhood Policing Chief Inspector Ray Mavrakakis said: \u201cWe will not tolerate offensive and hateful graffiti and we are carrying out enquiries to find the person or people responsible.\u201cHate crime will not be tolerated in our communities and we would ask anyone with information about who is responsible to come forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cMerseyside Police has a specialist team of officers who are dedicated to investigate any form of hate crime and will actively look into all reports we receive and proactively investigate to bring offenders to justice.”<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Knowsley<\/a> Council said: \u201cWe are aware of the graffiti and we are working to have it removed as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
