Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce broke the internet today when they announced their engagement<\/a> in a post on Instagram.<\/p>\n

Among the 13 million (and counting) accounts to like the slideshow of photographs (which included a close up of that vintage ring<\/a>)? The official Instagram account of Prince William and Kate Middleton, @theprinceandprincessofwales.<\/p>\n

Swift met Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte<\/a> during one of her Eras Tour stops in London last summer. On Jason and Travis Kelce\u2019s \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast earlier this month, Swift reminisced on that moment<\/a>, saying, \u201cWasn\u2019t this the week I got to watch Jason meet the royal family?\u201d continuing, \u201cI knew you were serious when I was like, \u2018Jason, do you wanna go meet\u2026\u2019\u201d and Travis chimes in, \u201cHe was like, \u2018What do I do with my beer?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Swift continues, pretending to hold a beer can, \u201cI watched him have this moment with his beer where he was like, \u2018But I want to take it, but I know that I probably should not take it,\u2019 I watched this happen, and it kind of was the most amazing\u2026\u201d Jason replies, \u201cI like that you picked up on it because that was exactly what was going through my head\u2026 Is it disrespectful to have a beer when you meet royalty?\u201d<\/p>\n

While it was the first time the Kelces interacted the Windsors, it wasn\u2019t the first time Swift had met the royals; she and Prince William sang \u201cLivin\u2019 On A Prayer\u201d with Jon Bon Jovi<\/a> at a charity event at Kensington Palace in 2013.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I’m cringing at what happened next, and I don’t understand why I gave in,\u201d Prince William said in 2021 of that moment<\/a>. \u201cBut, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm, and says, \u2018Come with me\u2026\u2019 I got up like a puppy and went, \u2018Yeah, okay, that seems like a great idea. I’ll follow you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
