Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler are expected to lead a new all-star golf event at Donald Trump’s golf course in Jupiter just before Christmas, according to <\/strong>Sports Business Journal<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The publication understands having spoken to multiple people with knowledge of the matter that American media company Versant <\/strong>will be putting on the made-for-TV event with McIlroy<\/a>, 36, and Scheffler<\/a>, 29, acting as captains of two four-man teams.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The one-day golf event is expected to take place at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida, in the middle of December.\u00a0<\/p>\n

SBJ<\/a> understands the new event will have an American vs European feel about it.<\/p>\n

The publication has also had it confirmed that only PGA Tour<\/a> players will take part with no LIV Golf<\/a> players involved.<\/p>\n

So there will be no repeat of last season’s ‘Showdown’ in Las Vegas, which saw PGA Tour duo McIlroy and Scheffler take on LIV Golf’s Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last year’s ‘Showdown’ was sponsored by Crypto.<\/p>\n

There is currently no title sponsor for this December’s event but talks are ongoing for a company to come forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The action is expected to air on multiple Versant networks.<\/p>\n

Versant already has ties to McIlroy since it’s the parent company of GolfPass, an NBC Sports property with which the five-time major champion has a long-standing partnership.\u00a0<\/p>\n

McIlroy recently included the Versant logo on his TaylorMade golf bag.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Scheffler and McIlroy will both compete against each other next month when they lock horns at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage in New York.<\/p>\n

They both qualified automatically for their respective teams.<\/p>\n

Scheffler is joined on the US team by DeChambeau, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English and JJ Spaun.<\/p>\n

US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley will confirm his six picks on Wednesday 27 August.\u00a0<\/p>\n

McIlroy is joined on the European team by Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Bob MacIntyre, Tyrrell Hatton and Rasmus Hojgaard.<\/p>\n

European captain Luke Donald will announce his six picks on Monday 1 September.<\/p>\n

The 2025 Ryder Cup takes place from 26-28 September.<\/p>\n

Europe are the defending champions having won by five points at Marco SImone in Rome, Italy, in September 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They are looking to become the first away team to win the Ryder Cup since the Miracle at Medinah in 2012.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Scottie Scheffler<\/p>\n

Scheffler finished tied fourth at the Tour Championship at the weekend.<\/p>\n

McIlroy had a rare week to forget in a tie for 23rd in the FedEx Cup finale, which was won by Fleetwood.<\/p>\n

The victory marked Fleetwood’s first PGA Tour title in his 164th start on the circuit.\u00a0<\/p>\n
