When Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement on Tuesday afternoon, it frankly broke the internet.<\/p>\n

Their joint Instagram post\u2014\u201cYour English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married\u201d\u2014is sitting at 18 million likes and counting.<\/p>\n

Their wedding is destined to be the biggest pop culture wedding of the century, and we\u2019re wondering: could there be royalty amongst the guests?<\/p>\n

Because Taylor Swift has a longstanding friendship with Prince William that dates back over a decade.<\/p>\n

In 2013, she was one of the special guests at Centrepoint\u2019s Winter Whites gala at Kensington Palace. Those in attendance were there to support one of William\u2019s oldest patronages, and the pair had a chance to meet before the main event. Catherine was unable to attend, as she was home with Prince George, then only four months old.<\/p>\n

The songstress performed her own music, telling those gathered that, \u201cIt is very nice to meet you, especially under these circumstances. It is my first time playing at Kensington Palace, or any other palace for that matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have to thank you, Prince William, for having me. It\u2019s amazing. To call attention to this age group especially, teens and young adults. It is hard enough being in your late teens to early twenties, then the fact that so many kids have to deal with so much more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor and William then hopped on stage for an impromptu duet with Jon Bon Jovi, joining the rock star for a rendition of his \u201880s hit \u2018Livin\u2019 On a Prayer\u2019 as he strummed along on guitar.<\/p>\n

She later told reporters that she was happy to have met William, saying, \u201cI was really happy he was funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

William, meanwhile, cringes at the memory. In 2021, during a walking interview for Apple\u2019s Time to Walk podcast, he revealed that he didn\u2019t know what made him say yes to going up and singing with Taylor and Bon Jovi. \u201cI don\u2019t understand why I gave in.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cBut, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm, and says, \u2018Come with me\u2026\u2019 I got up like a puppy and went, \u2018Yeah, okay, that seems like a great idea. I\u2019ll follow you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Just over a decade later, Taylor and William would reunite after she brought the record-breaking Eras Tour to London for a series of concerts over the summer. Including one at Wembley Stadium on William\u2019s birthday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fans spotted William and his two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, dancing along to the concert from a private box, joined by Mike and Zara Tindall. Catherine, again, was not in attendance as she was privately receiving chemotherapy treatments.<\/p>\n

After the show, Taylor posted a selfie <\/a>she\u2019d taken with William, George, Charlotte, and her now-fianc\u00e9 Travis Kelce with the caption: \u201cHappy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start \ud83c\uddec\ud83c\udde7\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8\ud83e\udd1d\u201d<\/p>\n

The Wales\u2019s social media team shared their own photo<\/a> of Taylor with the royals, captioning it: \u201cThank you @taylorswift for a great evening!\u201d<\/p>\n

On the New Heights podcast<\/a> hosted by Travis and his brother Jason, they reminisced about meeting William and his children. Jason said: \u201cI gotta say, Prince William was fantastic, but the highlight was Princess Charlotte. Prince George was great too. She was so f****** adorable. Like, I cannot\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Travis added: \u201cShe was a superstar.\u201d Of William, he said that he was the \u2018coolest mother******\u2019 and that he wasn\u2019t sure how to greet the future king.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were an absolute delight to meet. Wasn\u2019t sure if I was supposed to, like, bow to them, curtsy, just be an American idiot and shake their hand,\u201d Travis said, adding that he wanted to be respectful, especially given that they were in London.<\/p>\n

He also teased Jason for being the most respectful he\u2019d ever seen him. \u201cYou put your beer, like, 10 feet away from you,\u201d he teased.<\/p>\n

When Taylor made a surprise appearance on their podcast earlier this month to announce her forthcoming studio album, she brought up how torn Jason had been to meet William at the cost of not taking his beer with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI watched him have this moment with his beer where he\u2019s just like, \u2018But I want to take it. But I know that I probably should not take it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

After Taylor and Travis jointly shared their engagement photos on Instagram, many started checking the likes on the post, and users quickly noticed that William and Catherine were amongst the many who liked the post.<\/p>\n
