Look Portal Overcomes Poor Break With Stamina<\/strong> <\/strong>\/ HLP<\/p>\n

LA PLATA.- Breaking last at the start of Tuesday\u2019s\u00a0Cl\u00e1sico Jockey Club de C\u00f3rdoba<\/strong>\u00a0(2200m, dirt, La Plata),\u00a0Look Portal<\/strong>\u00a0(Portal del Alto) quickly turned what could have been a costly mistake into a mere anecdote. The\u00a0Stud Haras Cachagua<\/strong>\u00a0runner regrouped, settled comfortably, and in the final stages imposed his stamina-driven stride to secure a convincing victory, confirming his status as one of the leading stayers at the Bosque.<\/p>\n

With the\u00a0G1 Gran Premio Dardo Rocha<\/strong>\u00a0looming on the horizon, the 4-year-old continues to take the right steps forward, sharpening his form and building momentum toward the centerpiece of the La Plata season.<\/p>\n

Previously successful in the\u00a0Cl\u00e1sico Federaci\u00f3n Argentina de Jockey Clubes e Hip\u00f3dromos<\/strong>, Look Portal is aiming to better his sixth-place finish in last year\u2019s Dardo Rocha. If his current progression holds, he appears well on track to tackle the tougher assignments ahead.<\/p>\n

Ridden by\u00a0Kevin Banegas<\/strong>, the bay raced midpack for much of the journey before improving wide down the backstretch. He engaged\u00a0Bomb\u00f3n Escos\u00e9s<\/strong>\u00a0(Bodemeister) around the turn, dispatched him in upper stretch, and kept on strongly with his trademark relentless gallop. He crossed the wire 1 1\/2 lengths clear of\u00a0Best Portal<\/strong>\u00a0(Portal del Alto), who closed well to be second, with\u00a0Sofware<\/strong>\u00a0(Treasure Beach) holding third another half-length back after making much of the running.\u00a0Che Banquero<\/strong>\u00a0(Greenspring), a dual stakes winner earlier this season, settled for fourth two lengths adrift. Final time was 2:17.76 after splits of :25.28, :50.27, 1:15.43, and 1:39.70.<\/p>\n

Bred by\u00a0Mar\u00eda I. Solveyra and Patricio E. Donovan<\/strong>\u00a0and trained by\u00a0Nicol\u00e1s Mart\u00edn Ferro<\/strong>, Look Portal has put together a terrific campaign this season, having earlier captured the\u00a0Cl\u00e1sico Uruguay<\/strong>\u00a0at La Plata, the\u00a0Cl\u00e1sico Calidoscopio (L)<\/strong>\u00a0at San Isidro, and the\u00a0Handicap Arturo A.<\/strong>\u00a0at Palermo.<\/p>\n
