{"id":377214,"date":"2025-08-27T09:05:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T09:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/377214\/"},"modified":"2025-08-27T09:05:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T09:05:10","slug":"launch-of-grail-trails-project-opens-up-roslins-hidden-gems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/377214\/","title":{"rendered":"Launch of \u2018Grail Trails\u2019 project opens up Roslin\u2019s hidden gems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Launch of Grails Trails\" class=\"image_centre\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Grails_Trails_for_website.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Visitors and locals alike are being invited to discover more of Roslin and its stunning surroundings thanks to a new initiative supported by Midlothian Council.<\/p>\n<p>Launch event<\/p>\n<p>Richard Harris, owner of the family-run Original Rosslyn Inn, officially launched <a class=\"linkext\" href=\"https:\/\/grailtrails.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Grail Trails project<\/a> at a special event on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Outdoor access trails<\/p>\n<p>With support from the council\u2019s Economic Development team, Richard secured a grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (2022\u20132025 Local Business Support Fund). The money has been used to develop and promote outdoor access trails in and around Roslin village and Roslin Glen Country Park.<\/p>\n<p>Offering more to Rosslyn Chapel visitors<\/p>\n<p>The project aims to ensure the significant numbers of visitors to the world-famous Rosslyn Chapel \u2013 many of whom do not currently venture further into the village \u2013 have the opportunity to explore the wider area and enjoy all that Roslin has to offer.<\/p>\n<p>Benefits tourism and keeps us healthy<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the launch event, attended by VIPs including\u00a0local MP Kirsty McNeill, Council Leader Councillor Kelly Parry said: \u201cWe are delighted to support the Grail Trails project, which not only encourages healthier lifestyles through walking but also helps distribute the benefits of tourism more widely across Roslin and Midlothian.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRichard and his team have worked closely with our Economic Development and Business Gateway teams for many years, and this project is a fantastic example of how partnership working can deliver real community benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Well done Richard<\/p>\n<p>Richard, whose parents Grahame and Maureen bought the inn back in 1973, said: &#8220;It\u2019s been great to see the Grail trails project come together. As a Roslin native, exploring Roslin glen was a huge part of my childhood. To\u00a0share this with visitors and those new to the areas was my hope.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To create a digital asset in partnership with Midlothian Council Shared Prosperity Fund and to see villagers, locals, and visitors stop and learn more and to enjoy has been incredibly fulfilling.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Many thanks to the local businesses\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0Colorprinz, Specialized Signs, You More and Nimble Digital &#8211; \u00a0that helped make it a phenomenal success attracting\u00a0a lot of attention.
