Liverpool are expected to make a new approach to Crystal Palace<\/a> over a deal for Marc Guehi this week, though the defender\u2019s price tag will need to be reduced.<\/b><\/p>\n

The next six days will be pivotal as Liverpool look to get two more signings over the line before the transfer deadline on Monday night.<\/p>\n

Along with a potential British record deal for Newcastle<\/a> striker Alexander Isak, the champions are also looking to secure a move for Guehi.<\/p>\n

But Liverpool have been unwilling to meet Palace\u2019s price tag of \u00a340 million, with the Mail<\/a>\u2018s Lewis Steele reporting that more talks are planned for this week.<\/p>\n

That comes with the hope that Guehi\u2019s asking price will be reduced, with it previously explained that a deal worth an initial \u00a330 million and \u00a35 million in add-ons is seen as more realistic.<\/p>\n

\"Marc<\/p>\n

Crystal Palace<\/a> chairman Steve Parish has been frank in his assessment of the player\u2019s future, admitting after their 1-0 win over Fredrikstad FK last week that \u201cif he doesn\u2019t want to sign a contract, then we have to look at it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The England international has, by all accounts, set his heart on a move to Anfield \u2013 either this summer for a fee or next year on a free transfer \u2013 and Palace are minded to sell having entered the final year of his contract.<\/p>\n

This could smooth negotiations over a transfer before 7pm on September 1, but no deal will be sanctioned until Friday at the earliest.<\/p>\n

Palace manager Oliver Glasner has made clear that he needs Guehi available for the second leg of their UEFA Conference League qualifier against Fredrikstad on Thursday night as he has no other options at centre-back.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to [keep him]. Honestly, we have to. Especially for the second leg,\u201d he told Channel 5<\/a> after the opening leg at Selhurst Park.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo injured player will come back, we can\u2019t register anyone, so we have to keep him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liverpool are not anticipated to move for another centre-back if a deal for Guehi this summer is deemed impossible, with the 25-year-old viewed as an ideal market opportunity.<\/p>\n
