More than half of Canadians with U.S. properties want to ditch them &#8211; National"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\tDescrease article font size<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tIncrease article font size<\/p>\n<p>Many Canadians with property south of the border have either sold or are considering selling, a new report by Royal LePage released Wednesday has found, and the administration of U.S. President <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> appears to be the key factor.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Over half, 54 per cent, of Canadians with properties in the U.S. told a Royal LePage survey they have either sold or are planning to sell their properties down south.<\/p>\n<p>A majority of those planning to sell \u2014 62 per cent \u2014 said the main reason they wanted to sell was \u201cdue to the current political administration in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of those who had already sold their properties, 44 per cent said it was because of the political climate while 27 per cent said personal reasons factored into their decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe polarizing political climate in the United States is prompting many Canadians to reconsider how and where they spend their time and money,\u201d Royal LePage CEO Phil Soper said.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-video__image c-video__image--short\" alt=\"Click to play video: 'Carney uses hockey analogy to explain removal of counter-tariffs on certain U.S. goods'\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/CARNEY_HOCKEY_TARIFFS_YTS_thumbnail_720x1280.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"   data-\/><\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t1:22<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCarney uses hockey analogy to explain removal of counter-tariffs on certain U.S. goods\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Extreme weather events, such as hurricanes, flooding and forest fires, factored in for 22 per cent of those who have already sold their properties this year.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t&#8216;Buy Canadian&#8217;
