Steph McGovern has confirmed she is returning to the BBC after a two-year break from screens following the axe of her Channel 4 programme, Steph’s Packed Lunch.\"StephSteph McGovern is returning to screens(Image: BBC)<\/p>\n

It’s been almost two years since Steph’s Packed Lunch was axed by Channel 4 <\/a>but host Steph McGovern is finally returning to screens with a series of new projects. The star, 43, has announced her latest career move, which will see her rejoin the BBC<\/a> as a presenter after quitting the broadcaster in 2019 to move to Channel 4.<\/p>\n

Steph fronted her own chat show on Channel 4 from 2020 until 2023, broadcasting daily from Leeds. Steph’s Packed Lunch<\/a> featured celebrity interviews, cooking segments and a rundown of the day’s headlines. However, the programme was suddenly axed in December 2023 due to low viewing figures. Steph has since appeared on other shows as a presenter, including Sunday Brunch, and took part in Netflix’s <\/a>reality series Bear Hunt.<\/p>\n

The journalist is now returning to the BBC, revealing she’s due to present two brand new programmes as well as taking on a host role in an already established show, the Mirror <\/a>reports. Taking to Instagram to share her career update, she said: “Big work news. I can\u2019t tell you the specifics yet. But it involves hosting 3 shows all out in the next 12 months.<\/p>\n

“1) A brand new series on BBC One daytime (Not a magazine\/chat show). 2) A brand series on BBC Two evenings (Still not a magazine\/chat show).<\/p>\n

“3) A longstanding TV programme that\u2019s been going nearly as long as I have been alive. I AM ABSOLUTELY BUZZING!!!”<\/p>\n

Steph did not disclose any specific details as she added: “Thank you to everyone who has been sending me such lovely messages about my new TV stuff coming up (even though I haven\u2019t told you what they are yet).<\/p>\n

“Sorry for those hoping it would be [Steph\u2019s Packed Lunch] coming back\u2026\u2026it\u2019s deffo not that.”<\/p>\n

Steph was flooded with messages of support from her followers, with many celebrating the confirmation of her TV return.<\/p>\n

Sara Davies, star of Dragons’ Den, said: “Can\u2019t wait to see you back on our screens more often!!” while ex-Gogglebox favourite Scarlett Moffat added: “So glad you\u2019re back.”<\/p>\n

One fan replied: “Because you’re brilliant. You inspire so many people and you never forget your roots.”<\/p>\n

Another chimed in: “Amazing! But bring back Packed Lunch! It was great!”<\/p>\n

A third exclaimed: “Really missed seeing you on the telly box! Can\u2019t wait to see your new shows! Congrats.”<\/p>\n

Steph was previously part of the BBC Breakfast team as one of the show’s long standing presenters.<\/p>\n
