The decision to put their eldest son and heir to the throne, <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/prince-george-uncomfortable-royal-engagements-8784895\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince George<\/a>, in a co-ed school so that he could attend with both his younger brother <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/prince-louis-mocks-prince-george-fixing-hair-11729046\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Louis<\/a> and his younger sister <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/prince-william-princess-charlotte-relatable-update-school-8659689\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Princess Charlotte<\/a>. William and Kate aren\u2019t afraid to break tradition in the name of normalcy for their kids, like their reported decision to move into the $21 million Forest Lodge by the end of the year and remain there even after William takes the throne. If that should happen sooner than expected and George suddenly becomes first in line and, as tradition dictates, Prince of Wales, William may delay granting him that title if he is still in school, according to a palace source speaking to People.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_11-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cThey would want him to focus on having freedom before giving him any royal titles,\u201d the insider told the publication.\n<\/p>\n<p> Prince George, Prince William, and Kate Middleton on May 5, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Getty<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_14-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Royal historian and biographer Robert Lacey told the outlet, \u201cI imagine that when William talks to George about things like this, he uses words like \u2018destiny\u2019 rather than \u2018duty.\u2019 \u2018Duty\u2019 has a sense of being trapped; \u2018destiny\u2019 has a sense of choice.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_16-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Now that he is 12 years old, George is slowly beginning to take on royal duties. \u201cEven though he is so young, he seems to have grown in confidence over the last couple of years,\u201d The Mirror\u2019s Russell Myers told People.\n<\/p>\n<p> Prince George on July 13, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Getty<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_21-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> The palace source added that George \u201ccomes across as a serious chap,\u201d but it makes sense: \u201cTo have the world\u2019s eyes on you, especially when you\u2019re so young, is demanding,\u201d the insider added.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_23-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> William\u2019s goal is to make sure his kids\u2014especially George\u2014\u201cenjoy it rather than fear it\u201d when it comes to royal life, royal biographer Robert Hardman said.
