What was once a landscape of abandoned industrial facilities is now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/534996\/a-photographic-journey-through-zollverein-a-post-industrial-landscape-turned-machine-age-playground\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a laboratory of contemporary architecture<\/a>, featuring works by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/rem-koolhaas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rem Koolhaas<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/norman-foster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Norman Foster<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/tag\/sanaa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SANAA<\/a>. Within this context stands the Ruhr Museum and its enigmatic art repository, the Schaudepot. Located in the complex\u2019s former salt factory, the museum impresses not only with its collection but also with its architecture, which transforms a 1960s industrial building into a vibrant cultural venue.<\/p>\n<p>Because of its historical and architectural relevance, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openhouseessen.org\/gebaude-2025\/schaudepot-des-ruhr-museums?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the project is featured<\/a> in the 2025 edition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openhouseessen.org\/gebaude-2025\/schaudepot-des-ruhr-museums?utm_medium=website&amp;utm_source=archdaily.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open House Essen<\/a>, under the theme \u201cFuture Heritage.\u201d The initiative explores which spaces might shape our future architectural legacy and asks pressing questions: What should we preserve? What should we adapt?
