A large clothes shop in a prime Bristol city centre location will be closing its doors in September. Signs have been posted on the front windows of Monki, in the heart of Cabot Circus<\/a>, announcing a closing-down sale and thanking customers for their support.<\/p>\n Monki is owned by H&M, and the brand has been brought under the fashion giant\u2019s Weekday banner which targets younger consumers.<\/p>\n There are three Weekday stores in the UK, all of which are located in London. When H&M announced Monki would be absorbed by Weekday in late 2024, it said only a limited number of stores would be replaced by Weekday outlets, with the others shuttering permanently.<\/p>\n The Bristol shop is Monki\u2019s last surviving retail store in the UK, meaning the chain will disappear completely from UK high streets. The brand’s clothing is still available online.<\/p>\n A spokeswoman for Weekday confirmed Monki Bristol’s last day of trading would be September 14 and that there were no plans to turn it it into a Weekday store.<\/p>\n Several other shops in Cabot Circus and Broadmead, including some containing household name brands, have closed in August or are due to close in the near future.<\/p>\n The city centre\u2019s flagship Apple Store closed down<\/a> on August 9 after operating there for 15 years. That closure came ahead of a huge planned redevelopment of the Quakers Friars area<\/a> by Hammerson, which also owns Cabot Circus.<\/p>\n As part of the redevelopment, the building which housed the Apple Store is being transformed, with a large health centre one possible future use for the space.<\/p>\n The Game shop on Merchant Street is also due to close, with the final day of trading expected to be on September 25.<\/p>\n However, a series of new openings are also set to occur in the Shopping Quarter area over the coming months. A massive new \u00a321m Marks & Spencer store is due to open<\/a> in Cabot Circus this autumn on the site which formally housed House of Fraser.<\/p>\n The Bristol M&S will be one of the brand\u2019s biggest shops in the country. An opening date is yet to be announced.<\/p>\n In early 2026, a new Odeon cinema<\/a> will open its doors in the building which used to be home to Showcase Cinema.
